The first visit to the Night Owl Club in 2025 was a very successful one. The Penguins put together one of their better overall performances of the season against the Los Angeles Kings. Going up against the best xGA/60 team in the league the Penguins put up five goals and got a strong performance in net from Alex Nedeljkovic.

It was fitting to be in Los Angeles and have the Penguins stars getting on the board. Both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin found the back of the net in the same game and believe it or not it isn’t the first time they’ve done that in their careers.

Tonight marked 125th time Sid and Geno both scored in the same game and second time v. Kings (3/20/09 @ Pgh). Pens 109-10-6 in those games, 48-3-5 on the road.

Sid’s goal was just him doing what he does as good as anybody who has ever played the sport, tipping pucks.

Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang were both in on Anthony Beauvillier’s goal later in the game and they too have been involved in quite a number of goals together. They are climbing a very impressive list.

That’s 306 goals on which Sid and Letang have combined, per @pens tying them with Orr and Esposito for second-highest total by a F and D pair. Gretzky and Coffey have 350.

As for Malkin he was pretty amped up after scoring. His goal was setup on a beautiful feed by Philip Tomasino. It was a real slick play to get around the defender and slip that backhand pass east to west through the high-danger area.

The Penguins will have a few days off on their road trip to get their bearings until they are back in action on against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night. They’ll need to pretty much run the table on this road trip to get back into the mix. They are down to a 3.3% chance to make the playoffs per Moneypuck.
