Panthers vs Ducks in Anaheim.

Yep, it’s a dreaded Pacific Time Zone game with the puck drop set for 10 PM ET.

Ugh…get your coffee ready…

The saving grace is the Panthers broke their “slump” against these same Ducks a mere two days ago when Florida shut Anaheim out 3-0.

Here’s a nice reminder of that victory via Litter Box Cats:

Florida tested John Gibson 44 times on Saturday in Sunrise in the first meeting of the season series and Jesper Boqvist and Anton Lundell each potted their 11th goals of the season against the veteran goaltender in the gritty 3-0. Spencer Knight made 34 saves to post his fifth career shutout and second of 2024-25 campaign. Knight also assisted on Gustav Forsling empty-net goal.

The Ducks return home after a six-game road trip east that saw them post a 1-4-1 record, leaving them circling the drain as far as playoff chances go. Former Panther Frank Vatrano registered a game-high nine shots against the Panthers, but could not solve Knight. Troy Terry leads Anaheim in goals (15), assists (19) and points (34) in 42 games played.”

With Bob’s play a bit down the past few games, and Knight’s on the rise, are we seeing a bit of a goalie controversy in Florida’s blue paint?

In general - and to steal a word from last blog’s comment section - the Cats seem to be “coasting” at this juncture of the season. They’re not playing to the level we know they’re capable of, but they’re also not completely burning out.

They are very much in the phase they seem to go through every season, where mediocrity creeps in, but they’re also not somehow maintain their spot in the standings.

It’s weird and it seems to have happened every season for the last handful of years.

With that in mind, I’m not getting nervous. I’m just trying to keep my eyes open for this four-game West Coast swing Florida is opening up tonight.
