The Buffalo Sabres extend their winning streak to four in a row as they defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets by the final score of 3-2 in regulation.
Period I
Off the opening faceoff, we get an excellent scrap between Mathieu Olivier and Dennis Gilbert. Olivier wins the fight with multiple haymakers.
The goal scoring commenced halfway through the period with trade bait, Bowen Byram, putting up his 6th of the season from Jason Zucker, my Sabres’ player to watch, and Alex Tuch.
Period II
Columbus got in the board a minute and 47 into the frame with a highlight reel. The spin move by Kent Johnson nets the forward his 16th goal of the year. Next goal will be highest goal production in a season. Former Flyers’ James van Riemsdyk and Ivan Provorov get the helpers.
Alex Tuch gets two goals after the halfway point to get his club the two points.
His first came at 12:17 for his 17th from Gilbert and Byram. The second came with a minute and 4 seconds remaining in the second for his 18th from Captain Rasmus Dahlin and Zucker.
Period III
Provorov gets his fifth of the campaign 12:38 into the final frame from Damon Severson and Luca Del Bel Belluz. Next goal for Provorov is highest goal total with the Jackets in a single season.
