The Rumors and Stories Behind: Nelson, Cozens, Marchand, Evans, and more… |

Here is the latest…
On Dylan Cozens…
There is no secret that the Detroit Red Wings have been trying to get Cozens for some time now, but there just doesn’t appear to be a match. Calgary has also been involved, and Vancouver has stayed in the game too….but probably only if they were to trade EP40…. Trading Elias really now looks more likely to be in the summer. However, the Philadelphia Flyers are looking hard for a center that can fit into their lineup and is roughly the age of most of their players…Cozens fits that perfectly…they are hanging out in the wings…for now.
On Yanni Gourde…
Yes, he is still hurt and is not likely to play before the deadline, probably a week after. He is a very experienced player, if he’s healthy. And of course he also hasa Stanley Cup from a team Yzerman knows a little bit about. Tampa… Along with the Wings….Vegas, Colorado, and the Isles are all talking to Seattle about Gourde. This comes from some very solid league sources…
On Brock Nelson…
It is still being implied, and my gut instinct is, that Nelson will be re-signed by the Islanders this summer and NOT traded. He’s part of Lamoriello’s inner core, and those guys generally don’t go anywhere. However, he is loyal, loves being an Islander, and will play the game of “well I might be traded” if Lou has a reason that behooves the team elsewhere.. I was told the Kings like him, but the Maple Leafs LOVE him…. If he goes anywhere, I believe it will be Toronto…and only if the Isles are way out of the hunt on March 7th
On Jake Evans…..
It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the Canadiens keep him. His solid year and attitude have become quite a big part of a Canadiens team which is thriving playing a bunch of bandits… It is incredibly rare to be able to play the underdog and have the fans be OK with that….but this group has really accomplished the unbelievable when you think about it….There are teams interested of course…Lately, I was informed, the Kings and Oilers have both checked in.
On Marchand….
Vegas…. I talked to somebody out in Nevada, who told me that they’ve basically heard through the Underground NHL Phone Tree (which 100% does exist) If the Bruins want to move him, Brad wants to go to Vegas or essentially nowhere at all….However, I was also told the teams who have asked about him were told to wait until Friday or Saturday and the Bruins would get back to them on whether or not they are on Marchand’s “limited list.” When all is said and done, I also believe Marchand wants to return to Boston after his 2025 playoff sojourn, so he will allow Boston to negotiate with more than one team to get the best return for the Bs…
There is no doubt in my mind that the Kings will be getting one, or more likely two, top 9 forwards as they are in big need of scoring…
