Barry Trotz was very candid when asked about a big summer for Free Agent acquisition that didn’t see the hoped for results.
Just to reiterate, Detroit has a healthy amount of space but unless the right deal comes in at the right price, it feels like the room is healthy and have come together under McLellan. Hoping to see at least an “audition” for Tuomisto, Wallinder and Lombardi. There are several prospects who may push for a spot next season with the aforementioned Griffins, Danielson, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Augustine if he decides to exit school (would probably benefit from time in Grand Rapids first) and Buchelnikov continues to be an intriguing name (though Detroit would have to buy out a year of his current deal to bring him over).
Let me know your thoughts as Detroit gets ready to hit the great outdoors to faceoff against Columbus!
