I’ll give this to Coach McLellan, he doesn’t mind stirring things up. The team has opted to waive Christian Fischer in a trio of events preceding the final game before the trade deadline.

This came out just before it was announced that Dries has been moved back to GR and Carter Mazur has been called up. Mazur has been a very visible on ice presence lately in Grand Rapids and will hit anything that moves. With 15 points in 20 games (8G, 7A) Carter’s callup makes sense as Detroit has been “soft” around the net. Hopefully the prospect will make the most of the opportunity.

As for the Fischer waiver, this is a player who seems to have fallen out of favor with the organization a bit. The team needs everyone going at full speed and, hopefully, this. Will spark some of that. No indication or information that this is a predecessor to any other move. A few of us have wanted to see Mazur get a look pre TDL, now it looks like it’s happening.
