It is four in a row for Tristan Jarry and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Their playoff odds per Moneypuck are up to .2% and their odds for the first overall pick sit at 6.5%. According to Tankathon here are the Penguins odds for the entire draft lottery

There is an 80.9% chance the team will be drafting in the seventh or eighth slot. It is what it is now. Not that a top five selection was going to be an automatic for the Penguins at any point. It’s just that these meaningless wins are really making it a true long shot at this point. The early reviews of this draft class have the seventh or eighth spot as pretty meh.

Part of the potential Penguins retool/rebuild is Kyle Dubas taking some swings at younger NHL players who have fallen out of favor with their previous team. One of those swings was Philip Tomasino and to this point it has been a great success. The fourth round pick they spent has been paying dividends. Here is the proof

Since American Thanksgiving, here are the comparable forwards to Philip Tomasino by goals, primary assists, and shot attempts per 60 minutes at 5v5:

Given the cost to acquire and the 925k cap hit this trade has been quite the success and is looking like one of the many bricks necessary to build the team back up moving forward.

Sidney Crosby earned a primary assist on Rickard Rakell’s 31st goal of the season.

This is keeping him on pace for his point per game season. He now has 73 points in 67 games and wouldn’t you know it that puts him on pace for… 87 points.

This also put him on the level with Wayne Gretzky in a different category. He is now tied with Gretzky with 1,669 points with one franchise. This leaves just Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, and Gordie Howe ahead of him. It is very feasible for Crosby to ascend to the top of this list

The Con(n)ors have been on fire since joining the Penguins. Both Timmins and Dewar have had a great start to their Penguins careers. Timmins has a goal and two assists in his first four games with the team, which for a defenseman, is pretty solid. He’s paired it with a 65.96 xGF%.

Connor Dewar has put up three goals in his first four Penguins games which is more than the previous 48 games he played for toronto (1) from 2023 to the present. He carries a 56.55 xGF%.

Up next for the Penguins is a home game against the New York Islanders, who have four games in hand on the Penguins.
