1st Period
Physical start to the game for Buffalo
Kaleta-Mair-Peters are providing all the energy early.
* Pat Kaleta already has 4 massive bodychecks in the game. He absolutely smoked Kobasew and Stuart. The kid is hot tonight.
PK must have slammed a "Garbage Plate" in Rochester before his recall early this morning.
**********
Peters and Thornton throw down to a draw.
*********
Ryan Miller is engaged and involved early in this game. Great news for the Sabres. Bad news for the B's. Miller just performed grand larceny on Glen Metropolit. The Boston forward drove to Miller glove side, Miller sprawled to the ice and made a sensational glove save. The puck flopped up high over the crossbar and Miller swallowed up the rebound.
*****************
No Clarke MacArthur for Buffalo tonight. The dreaded flu bug has grabbed hold of #41.
Pat Kaleta was recalled early this morning and will play tonight.
***************
You talk about a must-win game? Buffalo will play 14 of them in the next 24 days.
Ryan Miller will be ready. Will the Sabres forwards provide the three or four pucks necessary to beat the pesky Bruins?
*************
Lindy is using his own version of the Trap tonight. You'll notice Goose, Jochen, Roy and Mair as the one man forecheck. The two other forwards and the two D form the box between the bluelines. This method has proven successful fo rthe Sabres in recent weeks.
Fight fire with fire, eh?
***
Gotta love Pat Kaleta getting under the skin of the Bruins. Chara, Wideman, Kobasew, and Reich already want a piece of the Buffalo disruptor.
******
Buffalo will start the second period with a 5 on 3 PP.
******
I like Buffalo's energy and jam in the first period. They came out flying and hit the Bruins every shift for the first 15 minutes.
*********
2nd Period:
Paille (12th from Pommer and Hecht) and Axelsson (10th) are your scorers.
@ 5:24 Stafford finds Vanek all alone in Thomas' blue ice. 2-1 Buffalo.
*******
I'm really liking what I'm seeing from the 20-55-29 line. Paille is such a versatile winger, and he brings another dimension to the Hecht and Pommer combo. This line is giving Boston problems.
*******
21-9-26 seem to be clicking here in the second. They are getting chances.
****
Gotta hand it to Claude Julien. Just when you thought it was safe to assume that the Bruins would Trap the Sabres, they instead engage Buffalo in a skating contest.
The Bruins will tighten things up in the third and try to deny Buffalo's forward progress through the neutral zone.
****
3rd Period:
Both Buffalo goals have come 5 on 5.
Buffalo are 0-4 on the PP; Boston is 0-3.
***
Thorold native, Dan Paille, has himself his second two goal game of the season. He now has 13 goals for the season. I'm not surprised by Danny's performance this season. I've been telling you for three years how great a kid he is. The kid worked his ass off all Summer long--- runnig and lifting with Adam Mair and Andrew Peters.
he's a skilled plyer with an impeccable work ethic. He deserves all the success that he has earned.
*****
T@ 18:27 Toni Lydman sniped Tim Thomas from 50 feet out. PPG 4-1 Buffalo.
Sabres are now 1-5 on the PP tonight.
****
Sabres move into 10th place with tonight's win. 55 points.
****
The Buffalo 7 game roadie is officially in the books.
Next up: NJ at home Wednesday night and Boston in Buffalo Friday night.
