Ok folks...I haven't done one of these in a while so...enjoy :)

Q: Do you think Daniel Carcillo is going to sign and make the Phoenix Team this year? - PraireFire
A: YES! ;) lol Now, making the team is a different story...I think there is going to be a lot more competition in regards to young talent in Phoenix this year. I don't really think he will spend a lot of time in San Antonio (or even any), but there is a definite possibility that he will be seeing some serious time in the press box if he can't keep his temper under control and play between the whistles.

Q: Do you think the Flames made a mistake by Trading Jordan Leopold to the Avalanche for Tanguay in 2006? Our Defense hasn’t been the same since Leo left, and now that the Tanguay experiment is over do you think the Flames can ever get back the Magic of what was 2004? - Flameguru
A: I'm not a big fan of looking back when looking forward is so much more exciting. Yes, I do think the Flames can get the magic back especially when the fans in Calgary are so desperate for a championship. They will not let management off the hook easily. I don't think they have all the pieces to go really far this season (thus far in the offseason), but I like what they've done so far and we'll see how they work it all out in training camp.

Q: Spokane represents the CHL. Boston College the NCAA. Its a best of 7 series. Who wins, and who is named MVP of the series? - Adam M.
A: Wow...how much do I love this question?!? Makes me wish even more that I had Canadian satellite or The NHL Network so I could have watched the Memorial Cup!! I don't follow the CHL all that much and know nothing about Spokane other than they won and then the Cup broke on them, I really can't answer this question. I would assume that they're really good considering the highly touted teams they played (Kitchner, Belleville, Gatineau), but the teams that BC beat (Minnesota, Miami, North Dakota, Notre Dame) can not be overlooked either - the regional games were especially spectacular. In the end, I'm going to stick with my college roots and go with BC (eventhough I own a BC Sucks! t-shirt).

Q: Why do you not have a boyfriend or husband? Is it by choice? I am married so I'm not asking out of self-interest but a very attractive, hockey-loving female would certainly be in high demand, no? Luckily my wife is cut from that very same cloth so I knew better than to let her get away. Are you married to work, overly selective, secretly in love with Ek or is it something else? - Whalerfan
A: I will start by saying that flattery will get you everywhere ;) Thank you for the compliment! The answer is that I have several theories, but nothing concrete lol I definitely want to get married and have hockey loving babies in the not too distant future but most of the guys that I meet don't know how to treat a lady. So for now, I'm just enjoying life and keeping my eyes open to see who shows up :)

Q: Do you think it is smart spending on behalf of the sabres front office not bringing back players like drury, briere, campbell and more recently bernier? 2 of the 3 did not have impressive seasons and the 4th will never really be the star he is being built up to be. And who do you think has the best farm system as far as talent? - Brown
A: I think it's smart for teams working on a budget lower than the salary cap to choose which players they simply cannot afford. It's difficult to let players of that caliber go and it's tough on both the team and the fans, but in the long run it is the best thing to do. I think it's important to note that Buffalo has some top notch prospects on the way and think they will be back on top of the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later. As far as farm system goes...if we're talking strictly prospects (including CHL and NCAA) - I'm going with Phoenix. If we're talking AHL - Providence was the most consistant last season.

Q:First, how could you not include Jim Hughson or Jim Robson in all-time best play-by-play voices? Second, do you think Mike Gillis can put together a championship team in Vancouver? Finally, how is it possible for someone to be so beautiful, so knowledgeable about hockey, and still be single? - nuxforlife1980
A: First, I have no idea...but Phil Liggit still tops my list. Second, absolutely...Gillis has a lot of work to do but what GM doesn't? It seems that they have put things on hold until Sundin decides what to do, so it will be interesting to see what happens should they not win out on those sweepsteaks. The good news is that they have a lot of options available to them...just depends what route they want to go. Finally, I guess I'm just not cool enough...either that or I need to move to a place like Canada or Minnesota or someplace where guys can truely appreciate those qualities...lol

Q: Do you think that Maxim Afinogenov will be moved before the season and if so do you think that Nathan Gerbe has a chance to make the team? I was able to make it to the Frozen Four last April and he was by far one of the best players on the ice. - N8 in Buffalo
A: I don't know that Max will be moved before the start of the season, but I do think he will be moved eventually and I think you'll get a lot more for him than you think. Gerbe definitely has a chance of making the team. I don't think he would have left a great development program in BC (four national championship games in a row!) if both he and the organization didn't think he could contend for a spot. He's got skill and speed and zero apprehension about playing the body despite his smaller stature and should fit right into Buffalo's system.

Q: Do you like sushi? I LOVE SUSHI! - NucksFan 6
A: Not really, but it is entirely possible that it is more because of ignorance rather than an actual dislike of it. I've never had someone properly introduce me to the various types and whatnot so it's more of an I don't know than a no.

Q:where do you think the best seats are for a hockey game? behind the nets or mid-ice? - Mike Myers
A: What a great question!!! For me, the best seats are center ice, first row of the second level - high enough to see the plays develop and close enough to really see all the action :)

Q: Hope I don't offend you with this question but would you ever pose for playboy? If no is there any amount of money that would change your mind? Thanks - PickleArmy
A: Memo to you: If you think something will offend someone...chances are it will. To answer your questions - No and No.

Q: have you ever been to a Blues game in St. Louis? - Joel
A: No, but it's on my list of things to do :)

Q: What are your favorite hobbies, besides following hockey, dancing and -- I'm going to guess because you're a dancer and I've known a few dancers -- getting foot massages? - The Dude
A: I love to travel and I love photography almost as much as I love hockey. You're right, I love dancing and therefore I routinely abuse my body and love all forms of relaxation including massages, yoga - stretch classes are my new favorite thing! - and vegging out on the couch lol

Q: What are your stats and do you shoot right or left? - Don
A: I never played any sort of organized hockey so I don't have any stats, but I shoot left :)

Q: Julie, I have the definitive question to end all questions. A question that is on the minds of all HockeyBuzzers. The question that needs to be answered.... for all mankind....Why do people think that saying "first" on each thread is witty, clever, funny, or in the least bit entertaining? - BluesFan44
A: LOL I have NO idea!!! Seems so fifth grade to me...makes me want to mark that user and NEVER read anything they have to say because it couldn't possibly be intelligent...

Q: Who IS your favourite band? - Andy Peppers
A: I don't really have one...My tastes in music are pretty eclectic. I listen to country, jazz, rock, dance, whatever...the only thing I don't listen to is rap. One of my favorites is an unsigned artist named Corey Smith - LOVE him! Kind of Jack Johnson-esq with a country twist. I would suggest the song "If I Could Do It Again" to start with...it's a great song to play on your way home from a great night out with your friends :)

Q: Who would you want to play you in a movie? - killab4061
A: Well because of the similarities both in name and personality, I always thought it would be funny to have Julia Roberts play me in a movie, but Reese Witherspoon (circa - Sweet Home Alabama) would be most like me in looks and personality.

Q:Tastes great........or less filling? - rockychocbill
A: I don't drink beer. I stick with wine and hard alcohol and I ALWAYS go for tastes great...if it doesn't taste great I'd much rather pass on the alcohol and just eat ice cream...if I'm going to consume "empty" calories (those lacking in nutritional content) they are sure as heck going to taste good!!

Q: Do you remember the 1st record album (or CD) you ever purchased? - rockychocbill
A: hmmmm...no I don't, but I do remember the first concert I went to :) It was the New Kids on The Block...I was in third or fourth grade and I went with my friend Candace and my mom...good times! lol EDIT: My Dad just politely (or rather not) informed me that it wasn't my Mom who took us to the concert it was my Dad. After I finished laughing, I asked if he had a good time and he said, "No! I sat there with earmuffs on! I didn't want to hear that crap!"

Q:Should I continue to hold out the ludicrously faint hope that The Next Great Blogger Contest will ever actually occur, or just go ahead and write about some topics I had thought up for it in MyHockeyBuzz? - Number 23
A: Yes, you should hold out hope, because it is going to start again :) but if you have blogs to post you shouldn't hold out!! Post those bad boys!!

Q: Why do you feel (if you do) there is such an East Coast bias in the NHL? - SoCalSharksGirl
A: That's an easy one...From a fan's perspective, the entire conference (with the exception of Atlanta) is in the same time zone - therefore no late night games. From a player's perspective, travel is much less taxing over the course of the season.

Q: Do you think Luke Schenn will be a franchise defenceman for the Leafs? - jh477
A: Definitely a strong possibility :)

Q: Do you like egg nog? I love it, I could drink it every day of the year. - jh477
A: ME TOO!! Although it is a tad thick for me so I mix it 50/50 with skim milk and toss in a whole bunch of nutmeg...L-O-V-E IT!!! It's a good thing it's only available for about a month or else I'd have to do an extra hour on the bike every day just to burn it off lol

Q: What's better in your opinion, Porche or BMW? - jh477
A: I'm more of a Mercedes kind of girl, but both are fabulous cars :)

Q: What was your most memorable hockey moment from '07-'08? - KellyFaith
A: Ok I have one from the regular season and one from the post season...Reg. Season: Hands down...the 11 round shootout between Washington and Edmonton. A) the game itself was great B) the shootout was AMAZING! With all the success that seemed to follow the Oilers in the 5th period there was soooo much tension in the arena and then to have NO ONE score...in 20+ attempts...rediculous! Then, to have it come out in the post game scrums that Matt Bradley, who scored the unlikely game winner, actually called it!! After watching players like Ovechkin, Semin, Green, Backstrom get stonedwalled, he turned to Boudreau and said give me the puck I'm going to score and then didn't even give his coach a chance to object before hopping over the boards. LOVED IT!! Post-season: Another no-brainer...Game 5 of the SCF...it took me most of the OT intermission to pick my jaw up off the floor after Talbot tied things up...Oh my STARS!!! Then to go almost another three periods to get the game winner...just wow...

Q:We all know the Blackhawks are currently over the cap. Rank the following players you think are the most likely to be traded between now and the beginning of the season:

Cam Barker
Martin Havlat
Nikolai Khabibulin
Robert Lang
- MartiniMan
A: Khabibulin, Havlat, Lang, Barker

Q: which current NHL team has the best logo (excluding the Flyers =), unless you really think so)? - PuckStoppinDuck
A: All of the Original Six...my top three would be Chicago, Montreal and Toronto...

Q: Do you ever stop shaving anything during the playoffs to grow a "playoff beard" to show solidarity with your favorite team(s)? I don't shave my armpits as long as the Red Wings remain in the hunt. - gmalicoat
A: uhhhhh...no. I send positive vibes...other than that they're on thier own!

Q: Where do you see yourself in a few years? Is blogging on this site a starting place for a bigger, more legitimate career in sports (hockey) broadcasting? Since you started blogging on this site, I have been curious as to what you planned on doing with it, you along with a lot of the other unknown bloggers on this site. - Yitzhak
A: I really have no idea what my life will be like in five years. I am not that far off of what my plan was five years ago although I have taken a dew detours along the way. As far as this site being a starting point...I'd like to think I started my career in sports media eight years ago when I began studying sports journalism at UMass and worked for the hockey team there in thier Sports Information Department. I was given the opportunity to write here at Hockeybuzz.com because of my knowledge of hockey, writing ability, personality and most of all my passion for the sport and I simply love what I do. To be honest, I'm still getting used to jumping back into sports media after a four-year hiatus that I haven't thought much about what the future might hold. All I really know is that, at the moment, I'm have having a whole lot of fun spreading the hockey love :)

Q: yo Jules, whatup? (that's my question) - crimsoninja
A: Not a whole heck of a lot...Just answering some questions and finishing watching the Tour de France...I know I'm a week behind, but I taped the stages I missed while cut off from civilization in New Hampshire and I've been watching them a little bit every day. It simply fascinates me and the last day is the best because it's one long celebratory ride to Paris...guys are taking pictures as they ride by their teammates and competitors, passing out plastic glasses of champagne, laughing and joking and just having a great time...so different from the previous three weeks of racing.

Q: What time is it? - Adam Kirshenblatt
A: 9:24 pm otherwise known as time for you to write a blog...

Q: I know you're a big NCAA hockey buff, so I got a question regarding a player fron Ferris State in Michigan. The sens just signed goalie prospect Mitch O'Keefe. Have you ever seen him play or know anything about him? - Snuh
A: I'm sorry to say that I don't know anything about him. Unfortunately, I don't think I have ever seen Ferris State play...

Q: If you received a nickel for everytime a specific thing happened to you, what thing would make you the richest? G.L.S
A: I could say something funny like every time the words "I love hockey" ran through my brain, but I'm going to go with something practical and say that I wished I received a nickel for every time I blinked :) I'd be a multi-millionaire!!

Whew...ok I've got a few more questions left in my inbox but I'm done for the night. Jon...your question will be the FIRST one I answer in my next Q&A blog (aiming for Tuesday night). As always, you ask and I will answer...either post your question(s) in the comments of this blog or email me - [email protected]

Till then! :)

Jules
