HABS PK UNIT DEFEATS BUFFALO |
|
|
|
The Leafs game was a scrimmage. Should be a better showing by the Sabres tonight. Look for several of Lindy's veteran Clydesdales to carry the wagon tonight.
Same for Carbo's Crew.
Puck drops on NHL Network at 7pm EDT.
Sabres have pink slipped eight prospects back to their Juniour teams. They are:
TJ Brennan- Teppo, Paetsch and Weber are the 6,7,8.
Drew Schiestel- Needs time in Niagara.
Tyler Ennis- Time to start a prolific offense tear in The W.
Luke Adam
Paul Byron
Nick Crawford
Jake Lagace
Jordon Southorn
Tim Connolly is wearing the "C" for Buffalo.
Koivu for Les Habs
Marc Denis gets the start in goal for Montreal. With Halak in The Hammer, Denis will have to prove his mettle early on if he wants to back up the recently svelte Carey price.
Patrick Lalime gets the nod for Buffalo. Its his first meaningful action for The Sabres.
Nathan Gerbe wears #42, as Derek Roy occupies his customary #9.

Sabres draw first PP. Lindy employs Mancari's 102 mph bomb on the second PP unit left point. Mancari came to camp 25 pounds lighter last week. will it affect his shot?
Lets see if Mancari can get pucks through to Denis. Can he defend skating backwards if his shot is blocked?
Thats what preseason/exhibition games are for.
1-0 HABS: Patrick Lalime is fooled by a knuckle puck that banks in off Lydman's skate.
Plekanec has KILLED Buffalo since the Lockout ended. I'll never forget his Powerplay Natural Hat Trick in Buffalo last season. The guy has earned his label: "Sabre Killer".
2-0 MTL: Kostitsyn five holes Lalime with what appeared to be a harmless shot.
Moments later...
3-0 MTL: Plekanec bags his shortie on a shot that Lalime had a clean look at from 32 feet away.
The Sabres have been handed a bushel basket full of PP of chances and they cannot commit to cashing them in.
Buffalo were 3 for 7 on the PP in Toronto Monday night.
Not that Lindy cares what I say..
* I think Gragnani has been so-so up front tonight. Nothing spectacular. He's a Dman on a thick depth chart. He hasn't impressed my up front.
* I like the way that Gerbe-Roy-Max are playing away from the puck tonight. They are playing the body, moving their feet, and they have drawn penalties.
Now for the obvious: Afinogenov has more turnovers than Pepperidge Farms tonight. When is he going to get it through his head that he cannot shtickhandle through four guys in red sweaters. MOVE THE PUCK 61!
Derek Roy and Nathan Gerbe closed the gap to one goal in the third period.
The Buffalo PP could have and should have been the difference, however, both units were largely ineffective going ohfer.
Adam Dennis replaced Patrick Lalime.
