The Penguins reassigned Janne Pesonen and Chris Minard to the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. The duo didn't look out of place during their brief call ups, though it did seem to take Pesonen a half of a period to get acclimated to the NHL speed of game.
Each player gives the Penguins some options if they were to be again bitten by the injury bug. The team also still had Jeff Taffe down on the farm, a very capable player.
Pesonen and Minard will arrive in Houston in time to take part in the Baby Penguins game with the Aeros.

The Penguins didn't do everything right last night as they knocked off the St. Louis Blues for their first victory in four games, but it was a start. They moved their feet and made getting to loose pucks a priority, something that hadn't been occurring. Every player seemed to focus on getting it done for the team and the level of play was raised significantly from the previous two outings.
Sidney Crosby played in the game after leaving with an undisclosed injury against Phoenix on Thursday night and picked up two assists. There were times where it looked as if 87 was moving a bit gingerly, but overall he took some big hits and seemed to bounce off of them.
The coaching staff finally listened to what the world had been screaming about and put Miro Satan back on Crosby's wing. The move paid immediate dividends as Satan put up a three point night. The move seemed to revitalize Satan, who was all over the ice against St. Louis. He opened up lanes for his line-mates with some great skating, made some very slick passes and singlehandedly created his goal. Satan, Crosby and new line-mate Max Talbot combined for 6 points in the game.
Evgeni Malkin unleashed another howitzer and picked up another power play goal. Big Geno was again a beast and is really channeling his frustrations into a fine on ice performance.
The penalty kill did an outstanding job of shutting down the top rated St. Louis power play and that led to a decent defensive effort throughout. It was a bit concerning that the Penguins continued to allow the opposition to get on the board moments after scoring their own goal, but it didn't derail them on this night. Besides, this is a feel good blog!! Happy Days are Here Again!!
Jordan Staal picked up his first goal of the season...
...I figured you might need a moment to pull yourself off of the floor. Though the goal was into an empty net, it could be the spring board he needs to start producing again. He had been in one heck of a slump! Congrats Jordo...nice to see Malkin set up the play as well. He looked like he wanted to go for it on his own, but unselfishly set up Staal for the easy goal.
Last night was a great way to end an extended road trip and a bit of a glimpse into what the the Penguins are actually capable of. They will now enjoy 4 days off from playing games and can focus on fixing a lot of what has plagued them over the past week.
