ISLES DROP ANOTHER ROAD GAME: Lose to Edmonton 3-2 |
|

"In the last three games, I find it hard to believe we've only had four powerplays"
- Scott Gordon, responding to Greg Logan's question about the Isles getting respect from officials
Now before I get to the awful officiating of last night's game, I'd like to address that excuse. Because any game that hinges on a refs call or a Toronto office for a video review, is a game that is not in the team's hands to control their own destiny. I don't buy-in to victim mentality. I don't buy-in to that they lost because their best player (Doug Weight) is out. BASICALLY, I buy-in that it is the team's responsibility to make sure that crappy officiating and an equally crappy video review does not dictate the final score and the difference between a win and a loss.
That said, the officiating and video review last night was a giant pile of crap.
However, despite Scott Gordon's ire at the officials, the Isles once again were not able to complete a full 60 minutes of effort. To me, this has more to do with not being able to control those elements that did skew the game beyond repair. The Isles were unable to hold onto a 2-0 lead, and it was the Edmonton's 4th line that really did the most damage. Then, when Edmonton took the lead, the Isles seemed to lack the skill to take it back.
Joey Mac once again was steady in goal, two of EDM's goals coming off deflections. DP should be playing in Calgary next.
