Pittsburgh looking to join the ’71 Habs as teams that dropped the first two games of the SCF and came back to win. In fact, back in 1971, the home team won the first six games and Montreal won game seven in Chicago. Here’s the difference though, none of the players on those two teams will be playing tomorrow night.
Tomorrow is game 87 of the playoffs. For those with rabbit feet and horse shoes, that should mean good news for Crosby.
The last road team in MLB/NBA/NHL history to win a game 7 final on the road. The Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979 in Baltimore. Again, none of those players will be dressed tomorrow night. Although, Dave Parker in front of Osgood might not be a bad idea. Happy belated birthday to the Cobra who turned 58 on Tuesday.
I’ve had Sirius Satelite radio since Christmas, what a great invention, right up there with Aqua Velva, write that down. I listen to Hair Nation all the time and I have a new appreciation for Dokken.
I like this Judge in Arizona, Refield T Baum. What a great name, up there in Judges names with Kenesaw Mountain Landis. (By the way your honour, the Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary). He really took a couple of shots at the NHL on Tuesday and no butterfly stops by Bettman. The classic of the day was when the NHL lawyer compared the NHL to the NFL and said that the removal of Phoenix would be comparable to when the NFL lost their teams in Los Angeles. Here’s what the Judge said
“Wait a minute, are you comparing the NHL to the NFL? Did I die in a plane crash last night and wake up in the twilight zone?”
Very nice Rod Serling reference.
The other issue brought to light, was that there are no offers other then Balsillie’s. Mr. Baum said, “a dollar today is better then a dollar tomorrow, and I can’t see the value increasing.”
To that point. Just say that the team does remain in Phoenix with a new owner. How long before they’re in bankruptcy court. What will change?
I’m glad there was no hockey last night, it would have interfered with the five straight hours of me watching GhostHunters on Sci-Fi. Those TAPS guys are great. The repeat of the Fort Delaware episode is still quite intriguing. Grant getting his jacket pulled and the voice saying “you shouldn’t be here” Great stuff, that is quality entertainment folks, write that down.
Looks like Malkin will become the first player to lead the regular season and playoffs in points, since Super Mario in 1991-92. Speaking of Mario, it was 25 years ago this past week that Pittsburgh selected him first over-all. Remember Mario said he wouldn’t go to Pittsburgh? My how things have changed, it’s like bailing on a blind date, but then you change your mind and go. Yadda Yadda Yadda, you get married and have kids named Sidney and Evgeni.
Offside
Pepperoni on frozen pizza. What the hell is that, why does it taste so awful? Pepperoni from a pizza place = fantastic, it tastes like, what’s the word I’m looking for, oh yeah, meat. Pepperoni on a frozen grocery story pizza tastes like cardboard flavoured cardboard, which is offside.
