There was no reason to be happy this morning after I watched the first period. In fact I was channel surfing a bit during the game between the Canucks and Deadliest Catch. Unlike dshiddy I like my crabs coming from a boat in Alaska (oops he's married now-just hide the shampoo). However, with about 5 minutes left I began to think the Canucks might pull off a huge heist in LA and as it turns out they did.
It wasn't a glamorous, dashing theft like an Ocean's (insert number here) movie, nor was it a classic like the Italian Job but it was a steal and one the players were certainly aware about. When Murph was interviewing Raycroft after the game you could here the whooping by various Canucks players in the background. I honestly think Murph wanted to ask Raycroft "Do you think you should have one that game?"
It's almost amazing that Samuelsson connected on the tying goal as that was about the only thing that seemed to go right in terms of plays for the Canucks- they were that disjointed and messed up. After his shoot out winner I think it is safe to say that if the season ended tomorrow Mikael would win every team award they give out. He has been that valuable to the Canucks thus far this season.
Yet despite a sloppy win, there is still another injury, this time to Bolduc. As he skated off it appeared his one arm was about 2 feet longer than the other- dislocated shoulder? Regardless of his status it seems the Canucks are destined to have yet another body in the lineup who will have to have an almost vertical learning curve.
It's a back to back game in Anaheim tonight and with the amount of effort- offensive (and yes it was offensive to me) effort in particular I expect the Canucks to come out firing at the Ducks. 12 shots or whatever the final pathetic amount is not enough and despite the patchwork lineup everyone knows how to shoot and go to the net. That is something we need to see with a lot more frequency.
Enjoy the game tonight.
