FIRST PERIOD

Sabres start out slow afoot...

1:04 into this game, Daymond Langkow's centre drive beats Miller. Bourque assists.

The Flames forwards are physical on the Buffalo D early on. Heavy forecheck in the early going yields positive results. Time to fight fire with fire.

@ 5:08 Adam Mair and young Prust had a beauty of a punch in the face contest.

*****

Point / counter Point:

Buffalo forwards are answering the Calgary forecheck with some piss and vinegar of their own. GET PUCKS TO THE NET AND ARRIVE THERE IN ILL HUMOUR!

It works as Hardy is called for a hook at 10;45.

Buffalo PP

****

Pommer misses open net-- twice. Good sign as Buffalo are getting pucks deep and pressuring Kipper and the Calgary D. Its yielding results as the Falmes are taking penalties.

**

1-1

Midway through the period, adam mair and the Sabres forecheckers go to work on the bigger, slower Calgary D

Derek Roy scores PPG. From MacArthur

Roy's fourth in his past five games. Lindy called him out and the rest is history.

Sabres lead shots, 17-4

****

2ND PERIOD:

I love Kaleta sticking up for his fallen Dman, Montador. PK jumped Iginla and face washed the Flame Captain just to bust balls.

***

Rivet highsticks Nystrom, Sabres are shorthanded

***

Same as it ever was.... Miller was outstanding and the Buffalo PK stood large and in charge.

Scoreless second period.

Buffalo matched Calgary hit for hit. Both goalies were jostled and bumped; buckle your seat belts for a bump third period!

***

3RD PERIOD:

Sabres have to stay out of the bin.

Less than a minute in: What was MacArthur thinking passing when he should have been shooting with the Dman down and a clan look at Kipper?

***

Buffalo have to get the puck to the net and crash. Gotta visit the dirty areas.

Kaleta, Kennedy, Hecht apply mad pressure. PK jolts Langkow with a stiff check in the Calgary end of the rink. Great energy.

***

Rivet flattens Sjostrom. Buffalo PK are playing with fire.

Successful kill. Miller sharp.

***

Sabres are gettting pucks deep and making the burly Calgary Dmen move their feet.

****

4 on 4

Mair and Hardy sit two each for roughing.

Nice toe drag Connolly just dropped on Phaneuf. Timmy's feeling it tonight!

5 minutes left in the third period, and only 8 shots on goal. Four apiece.

****

OT

Each team earns a point, Great 60 minutes from Buffalo and Calgary.

Both teams have has success in OT.

3-1-0 CALGARY

2-1-0 BUFFALO

***

Pommer almost ends it 7 seconds in to OT

****

Calgary native Tyler Myers is chopped down by Jokinen. Bad penalty for calgary. No denying it.

Sabres PP. Lindy call timeout to diagram a play.

4 on 3 for Buffalo for two minutes or less....

Giordano picks off a Connolly soft, cross-ice pass to nowhere and gets a good scoring chance on Miller.

Myers has two chances from his right point

Connolly, then Montador almost end it.

Credit Calgary for blocking four shots on the Nuffalo 4 on 3 PP

***

Myers defeated Tampa with a shootout goal in October.

Buffalo:

Connolly- whiffs
Roy- ROOF DADDY! 1-0 Buffalo
Myers- Kipper left skate/pad save
Pommer- SCORES! 2-1; 5 hole

Calgary:

Dawes-Miller makes save
Jokinen- 1-1; beats Miller five hole
Iginla-NO DICE
Bourque- Fires... Miller save.

GAME OVER!

Sabres win 2-1 in the shootout

My opinion: the Flames though they would bump and gring Buffalo into submission. Sutter thought that his team could bully Buffalo.

Didn't happen.

****

Miller gets a second crack at Philly on Saturday night. He was chased from his net last Friday night at home.

***

************************************************************************

Its a veritable Clash of The Top Goalie Titans in Buffalo tonight.

In this corner, wearing the home blues.... Killer Miller.

In the road whites.. Kipper.

Two badass hombres looking for two points in the standings. Which one of them will blink first?

Ring the freakin bell and lets get this party started!

I like Miller to impose his will on Kipper in OT, 3-2.

***

Sadly, no Grier tonight.

Kaleta will skate with 55 and 13. Mair leaves the out house to skate with Goose and Ellis. Mair will have a HUGE chip on his shoulder to be sure!

****

Look for Miller to go again in Philly on Saturday. No way in Hell Lalime gets the call. Give Lalime the Florida game in Buffalo on Wednesday night. Enroth left Buffalo Thursady night a Portland Pirate.

Personally, I'm not sold on Lalime's hip and "groin". He's a 35 year old used car, with crazy high miles, anda questional under carriage.

Run for zee Hills!

Get Marty in here Yesterday!
