Habs Tip-Toe Past Sleeping Flyers

-Bottom line, the Canadiens managed a win.

-It was ugly.

-It was a boring hockey game.

-Some say it was tight, and though it certainly wasn’t loose, it was anything but tight.

-There was no flow, and for the first half of it, the Canadiens weren’t able to recover a shoot-in, let alone generate scoring chances.

-The Flyers were good for about 5 minutes. They went from aggressive to asleep, and it seemed as though the game couldn’t end sooner for them, as they yawned their way off the ice.

-The level of mistrust the Flyers have in each other is palpable.

-The winning goal was the easiest one of Mike Cammalleri’s 16 scored on the year thanks to a brutal play by Braydon Coburn.

-Paul Mara suffered an upper body injury, but not before adding to his team leading -12.

-Tomas Plekanec scored his 27th, and 28th points of the year. Mike Richards has 22. Color me shocked!

-Before this season I would’ve said Mike Richards was a lock for Team Canada—I still think that’s a likelihood, but there’s another Richards in the league, and Mike hasn’t been nearly as good as him.

-Max Pacioretty has found a new gear.

-Roman Hamrlik and Jaroslav Spacek will be the top pairing for the Czech Republic at the Olympics. If they aren’t, the Czechs should default.

-Montreal is 14-14-2 without Andrei Markov.

-Thirteen games left in December, can the Canadiens keep their current pace?

-No word on Gionta, but generally, broken feet take 4-6 weeks to heal. The last game he played was November 12th, and he was injured on November 7th. Today is December 8th—can’t be much longer now.

-Andrei Markov is expected back in January.
