Buffalo forecheck slow to get going early on. Boston attacking Buffalo deep in Miller's zone. Too close for comfort.

1-0 Buffalo
Raffi Torres finds Mike Grier for his first goal of the post season, a wrist shot from 32 feet out.
1-1
Reggie Sekera gets caught on the pinch in the Boston end of the rink. Three on two the other way. Wideman scores his firsy Playoff goal in twenty games.
***
Sabres cannot sag here. They need to thwart the Bruins' sudden surge.
***
Boston brought their best forecheck early on. Buffalo struggled with it for the first five shifts. The Grier, Torres, Kennedy group turned the Buffalo fortunes by cracking Boychuk, Wideman and the Boston D with a determined and effective forecheck of its own.
1-1 after 20

2nd Period:
Lindy had better tell his boys to do a polar 180 degree opposite turn as the second period has been their worst period in this series. They alowed goals to Chara and Rder on Saturday, thusly wiping out their 2-0 lead.
***
Rivet takes high stick to the face; Sabres are 0-9 on the PP in the series...
Make that ohfer 10. Crappy entries, terrible recoveries. A lethargic PP. Is it my imagination, or has the Buffalo PP gotten worse with the re-entry of Connollyto the lineup? Roy and Connolly are trying too hard to be too cute with the puck.

Public enemy #1, Boychuk, catches Matt Ellis with his eyes down and hammers the Welland native to the ice. Ellis required assistance to get to the Buffalo room.
Where was the retaliation on Boychuk !! Time for Gaustad and Mair to hammer Bergeron.
***
The Sabres play a fairly even second period. Goose spent time in the box late. The Buffalo PKers killed two in row and are now 5 for 6 on the PK in the series. Boston took two late, however, the Buffalo PP has been anemic in this game in in this series as well. 0-11 and they have a minute left on the PP to begin the third period.

Great to see rookie Tyler Ennis on Hockey Night In Canada between periods with Cassie Campbell Pascal.

3rd Period:
2-1 Bruins
Mark Recchi opts to play Tim Kennedy's body eather than play the loose puck as the two combatants skated to a loose puck in the Buffalo zone. This my friends is text book INTERFERENCE. Recchi made no attempt to play the puck. He wipes out TK, feeds the loose puck to Bergeron in the slot for the go ahead goal.
***
Line brawl.
Ference takes umbrage to Grier jamming for a losse puck. Rivet jacks Ference, while Sekera hammers Sobotka.
****
Sabres will have to gamble and pinch the D in the last 4 minutes....
Buffalo get pressure, however, Rask made the 32 saves that he had to make at the key times. None bigger than the ten bell save he made with 30 seconds remaining in regulation...

The Sabres travelled to Boston looking for a split. Theu trail 2-1 in the series now. They MUST WIN Wednesday night's Game 4.
