Six hours...

I am ready to go. I have the Diet Coke on ice. I have my computer set up ten feet from my widescreen. TSN is at the ready. The draft: Bring it on!

A couple of quick notes at this hour:

- The Oilers are trying to acquire a second first-round pick. They could deal to get something as high as Columbus's 4th overall pick, but it looks like the 15th from Florida or the 22nd from Phoenix are more attainable.

- The Oilers, should they get a second pick in the first round, will use it to select a defenseman. Jarred Tinordi is a definite possibility.

- The Oilers are attempting to package Sheldon Souray in a deal to bring a 1st round pick. It's hard to imagine anyone giving up that high of a pick for Souray, but there's no harm in trying.

- The Oilers could move Gilbert Brule today. He is a restricted free agent, and word is, his camp is seeking $2mil per season. His contract will likely go to arbitration, but Brule has yet to put in a season worthy of $2mil per year. If the Oilers can find an energy forward who is cheaper, Brule could be gone.

- I hear the Oilers will use their #31 overall pick to select goaltender Calvin Pickard if he is available. If he is gone, the Oilers could look to defenseman Alexander Petrovic.

- Mid-second round pick could be defenseman Brock Beukeboom.

- It sounds like the Oilers will not be swapping the pick with Boston, and Taylor Hall will be their selection.

- For now, the Senators have stopped shopping Jason Spezza, and the Leafs are keeping quiet about Tomas Kaberle. With the Oilers likely selection of Hall, they could be in the market for a #1 center...but they will not trade Magnus Paajarvi or Jordan Eberle.
