Switzerland Shutout by Finland, 4-0 + BONUS VIDEO
Niagara, NY - Sweden scored twice in the first period and, despite a ten minute misconduct, held on to win 2-0 against Russia at Dwyer Arena on Tuesday night.
Sweden’s Anton Lander scored the first goal halfway through the first, his first goal of the tournament. Less than four minutes later, Jasper Fasth gave Sweden a two goal lead that would carry them through the game, even though Patrick Cehlin was given a ten minute misconduct call in the second period.
Robin Lehner of Sweden stopped all 30 shots for the shutout, while Russia’s Dmitri Shikin stopped 36 of 38 shots faced.
Sweden will next face off against the Czech Republic on Thursday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. at Dwyer Arena. Russia’s next game is also Thursday, Dec. 30 at Dwyer Arena at 7 p.m.
