Lindy skated the troops in Buffalo this morning and promptly hopped the charter to sunny Florida for their Tuesday night tilt in Tampa. Steve Montador sat this one out, while Pat Kaleta had the cast removed from his jacked up paw. The Sabres are on a nice roll, as in 10-4-1 in their last 15 games. Florida can be a tricky place to play at this juncture of the season, what with the Northeast in a subzero headlock. This is not a pleasure trip. Its all business for the Sabres. The mission is to knockoff two teams ahead of them in the standings: the Bolts and the Panthers. They need all four points.
You have to think that Mr. Pegula will be present for one of both of the games. He'll be taking over the team by February 22, which will give he and Darcy Regier plenty of time to assess the present roster and to go through the machinations of upgrading it by way of trades at the deadline.
There are UFAs to be on this roster who have to be considered. Tim Connolly and Jochen Hecht are noteworthy as they play centre. Pittsburgh and Boston are said to be interested in adding vet depth of the gut. sidney Crosby's return is not know at this time--- I'm hearing March for his return. young Letestu's injury will keep him out of the lineup for six more weeks. Marc Savard's season ended today due to another concussion.
Wingers Niedermayer and Grier are UFAs too. As is Montador.

WIVB Sports Director, John Murphy, is one of the best sports journalists in the business. Murph's been a rock solid broadcaster for nearly thirty years in Buffalo.
On Saturday night, Murph was in State College, PA for a social event, and he happended across new Sabres owner, terry Pegula, who was in town for a Penn State hockey function.
Mr. Pegula told Murph:
“We’re gonna win a Stanley Cup. And then you know what we’re gonna do? We’re gonna win another Stanley Cup.”
