Avs lose fifth in a row

Help us Peter Forsberg, you're our only hope.

If Matt Duchene were to wear two danishes and a white dress that's about what he'd be saying as the Avs fell to the Minnesota Wild 3-2.

T.J. Galiardi left the game with an injury, Kyle Cumiskey left with yet another head injury, Craig Anderson made only 14 saves in the loss and the Avs' losing streak has been extended to five games. All in all it was an ugly game but one where the Avs played better with more energy.

There's no doubt that with Forsberg in the lineup, the Avs will be better. His ability to pass and slow the game down will undoubtedly help the Avs's offense and their powerplay. However, that's all the Avs need help on.

Tonight the Avs came out fast and lively. They were hitting and moving their feet and getting back to the entertaining hockey the Avs fans have come to know and love. However, when Craig Anderson let in the soft goal to Martin Havlat, (softer than memory foam) the skaters lost their mojo and stopped skating.

They tried to put together a comeback in the beginning of the second period and again at the beginning of the third but frustration has truly set in. When that sets in, the Avs stop skating, roll over and lose.

Either Forsberg is going to energize this team down to Anderson, GM Greg Sherman is going to improve the goaltending/defense situation or Craig Billington will find them another player in the top 10 of the draft. Those are the three options going forward and we'll find out in the next two weeks which way the Avs will go.

Three Stars
1. Nicklas Backstrom- 25 save night
2. David Jones- scored two goals and was the Avs' best player
3. Martin Havlat- scored a key goal to kill the Avs' momentum

Facepalm of the Game

You'd think with 14 saves, this would go to Craig Anderson but tonight it goes to Kevin Porter for leaving John Madden open in the slot.

Bang Bang play of the game

David Jones' two goals win tonight win this award
