Sabres deliver a full 64:55 minute performance for their third win in a row. The slump has been busted. Buffalo entered the game 0-7 this season in games where they were attempting to win their third straight game.
3-2 Sabres win in OT. To add further value to the win, former Sabre Danny Briere scored the winner for Philly over Carolina (in regulation).
On the winner, Tyler Myers read perfectly that theb two Panther forwards were deep in the Buffalo zone. The sophomore rearguard dropped his head, activated his feet, then tore ass out of his zone with the puck on his stick. The strong side Florda D presenrted soft defensive coverage in front of him. The big man hit the Florida red line with speed, and let fly a scorcher of a rising slapper-- beating Vokoun glove high with 4.5 Mississippis left on the clock. Thats how you do it. Good things happen when you throw the puck at the net.
The win moves Buffalo (57) to within two points of eighth place Carolina (59). They trail Atlanta (58) by one point . Sabres have three games in hand on ATL and have two games in hand on CAR.
Sabres will skate in Buffalo on Friday and Saturday. They host the Islanders at 3pm on Sunday.
