Evander Kane led the Thrashers to a come from behind win-- in regulation. The Thrashers hold serve and prevent Buffalo from gaining ground with its games in hand.

Atlanta now have 60 points in 57 games.

Carolina have 59 points in 55 games.

Buffalo have 57 points in 53 games.

Next stop:

The Big Bad Islanders.....

Let me preface these highlights by saying that I am personally embarrassed for both organizations for their roles in the s*** show that became of their meaningless hockey game on Long Island on Friday night.

The injury riddled Pens limped into Long Island in search of a glimmer of hope. Brent johnson crushed rick diPietro's face last week, and this was the rematch. Since that ill fated night, the Pens have lost Geno Malkin. to a nasty MCL/ACL injury. Matt Cooke was suspended on Wednesday for his ignorant hit from behind on CBUS Dman, Fedor Tyutin. Mark Letestu has been shelved as well. Sidney Crosby's concussion will keep him from returning to the lineup until March, at the earliest.

The Pens came in looking for a stiff test, and they got more than their depleted roster could handle.

Will the Islanders be able to field an NHL caliber lineup Sunday afternoon in Buffalo?

Matters not. Sabres have to beat whoever shows up.
