1st Period:

1-0 Islanders
:40 seconds into the game, Niedermayer and Morrisonn are embarrassed in their own end when Grabner grabbed a loose puck at the left circled and circumnavigated the zone, ending with a pretty wraparound goal. Miller was down and out and could not make the save.

Lindy benched Byron and not Niedermayer? What the Hell?

Scouts peeping Nieds?

****

1-1Jochen Hecht beats Koskinen with an ice level wrister from 23 feet out.

***

2-1 Sabres

Less than a minute after Hecht scored, Drew Stafford taps in a rebound off a Connolly shot from the right faceoff cicle. Staff's 21st of the season. Staff is gaining more leverage for his future negotiation and arbitration with every goal he scores.

*****

2-2

Tavares beats Miller. House is silent after stream of boos. Sekera injured his knee
The goal gives Tavares 100 points for his career. nice

Nice job, young man. want to play in Buffalo like your Uncle Jhn??

****

3-2 Sabres
Drew Stafford scores his second of the game and 22nd of the season!

****

2nd Period:

Drew Stafford is on a tear right now and he is making his centre, Tim Connolly's, trade value skyrocket.

*****

4-2 Buffalo

Nathan Gerbe toe drags Milan Jurcina for his 7th goal of the season.

Koskinen is pulled for backup Al Montoya, who is making his Islanders debut.

****

4-3 Sabres
Blake comeau had enough time to eat a hoagie while holding the puck from the left wing wall, all the way behind the Buffalo net, and into the left slot where he scores on a weak backhander. Where's the forward? The D? Looks like a mirror image of the Grabner goal. too many guys in Blue and Gold standing around watching the puck.

3rd Period:

Islanders get new life with the late Comeau goal.

4-4
Grabner beats Ryan Miller again, this time, with a scorching top shelf shot from 30 feet away. His 23rd of the season.

Moments later...

5-4 Buffalo
Pommer has Montoya beaten on a wraparound, however the puck will not go in. Pommer finds the loose puck and then feeds Myers at the right point. Myers beats Montoya glove high from long distance.

********

5-5
Jurcina scores PPG, from Lackawanna, with Hecht in the hole.

***

6-5 IslandersOkposo PPG.

6-6
Drew Stafford scores his fourth hat trick of the season.

****

@ 1:45 remaining in regulation, Hamonic straight arms Gerbe and gets the gate....

Grabner wins it with his hatty.

You knew that it was only a matter of time until Penguins co-owner, Mario Lemiuex, weighed in with his take on the gong show that transpired on Long island Friday night. Mario is not happy. Here are quotes from the statement the released moments ago:

“Hockey is a tough, physical game, and it always should be. But what happened Friday night on Long Island wasn’t hockey. It was a travesty. It was painful to watch the game I love turn into a sideshow like that.'

****

“The NHL had a chance to send a clear and strong message that those kinds of actions are unacceptable and embarrassing to the sport. It failed.'

****

“We, as a league, must do a better job of protecting the integrity of the game and the safety of our players. We must make it clear that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and will be met with meaningful disciplinary action."

***
“If the events relating to Friday night reflect the state of the league, I need to re-think whether I want to be a part of it.”
