WHEELER & STUART TO ATLANTA

Strike my earlier Blake Wheeler scenario from the record. I knew that Wheeler would be moved, however, early today I learned that Tronna was not interested in him. Whwre there's smoke, there's fire. Wheeler was on the move, but to which team, no one knew until now. Boston has one-timed Wheeler now that Kabele is in their possession.

Atlanta Thrashers GM, Rick Dudley, has just thrown down the gauntlet to Buffalo and Carolina. Duds has made a trade for Wheeler and Dman Mark Staurt.

I'm hearing that Rich Peverley and a prospect are Boston bound.

Wheeler and Stuart will fit seamlessly into the ATL lineup.

After a fast start, the Thrashers are 2-6-2 in their past 10 games and they are falling fast from the Playoff picture. Carolina have passed the Thrashers in the standings in recent games. Buffalo and Atlanta are tied for ninth with 60 points heading into tonight's action. Buffalo are up-trending while Atlanta are gasping for air to stay in the race.

Its now or never for the Atlanta franchise, both on the ice and off.

What will Buffalo and carolina do to counter Duds' preemptive strike? Will Buffalo wait until 2/28? Or, will they strike a deal now?

The dismantling of the Ottawa Senators continues in rapid fire fashion. Last week, Mike Fisher was traded to Smashville for a 1st rounder and a conditional third rounder. On Tuesday, Chris Kelly was traded to Boston for a second rounder. Last night, Jerko Ruutu was traded to Anaheim for a sixth rounder. Today, Elliott is dealt for Anderson, straight up.

Sens GM Bryan Murray has sent Sabre Killer goalie, Brian Elliott, to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for goalie Craig Anderson. This move is addition by subtraction for Buffalo, as Elliott has been a pain in their ass ever since he entered the NHL.

Robin Lehner, the Team Sweden beast, is now in contention with Anderson for the starting goalie job in Kanata. Personally, I loved what I saw of Lehner at the WJCs in Buffalo. The dude is big, fast, and has a tremendous glove hand. He loves to fight as well.

Curious move for both teams. Craig Anderson has been on leave from the Avs for the past week due to personal reasons.

Goodbye, Jerko. You'll be missed!
