No surprise. Rivet has suffered from coach scratch fever all season and something had to give. The Sabres were not happy with him and the feeling appeared to be mutual.
in 23 games this season, Rivet had a goal and two assists. He was -5.
Twenty nine other teams have the option to claim Rivet. If he passes through waivers without a claim, he'll be sent to AHL Portland. Buffalo reserves the right to buy him out if no other team wants him. If he clears waivers, the buyout cannot happen until July 1.
