Craig Rivet has cleared waivers. Now the waiting game begins. Now, he waits. He we'll see if he clears on re-entry.

There are teams in the NHL looking for veteran D help.

The enigmatic Al Kotalik has also passed through waivers. He too waits for re-entry waivers. Wash your mouth out with soap if you want Darcy to bring Kotalik back to Buffalo.

Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis are more physical than the 6'3 225 lb. Kotalik.

Props to dvanderson2010 for sending me this outstanding retrospective. You nailed it!

The dog days are over!

I'm fired up! How bout you?

I shared tweets this morning with Jessie Pegula, aka one of the "Tweetie Birds". She wrote a moving and emotional synopsis of her experiences at her first Sabres game. I read her firsthand accounts of the magical night.

For example:

Rather than watch the game with their family in the owner's suite, Jessie and her sister Kellie rocked their #4 Pegula sweaters and sat with the fans in Section 105. Veeerrrrryyyy Cool!

From the Sabres:

"NEW BUFFALO SABRES OWNER TERRY PEGULA IS TODAY’S GUEST ON “NHL HOUR WITH COMMISSIONER GARY BETTMAN”

NEW YORK (February 24, 2011) – New Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula will be today’s guest on NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman on NHL.com and SIRIUS XM Radio at 6 p.m. ET.

In 1983, Pegula told his business partner, Robert H. Long, Jr., “If I ever have more than two nickels to my name, I’m going to buy the Buffalo Sabres one day.” Almost 30 years later, Pegula’s dream came true when the Sabres -- celebrating their 40th anniversary season -- introduced Pegula as the team’s new owner on Tuesday.

A lifelong hockey fan, the 59-year-old Pegula founded East Resources Inc. (an independent oil and gas exploration and development company) in 1983. Over the next 27 years, he built it into one of the largest privately held companies in the United States.

NHL Hour with Commissioner Gary Bettman broadcasts live on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 204 and on SIRIUS Channel 208 as part of the “Best of XM” programming package) and NHL.com. The show will re-air on SIRIUS XM Radio, with archived shows available for download via podcast on NHL.com.

The show encourages fans to call in with questions for the Commissioner. To submit questions to NHL Hour call 1-877-645-6696.

"They, "The French Connection", are the face of the franchise. They will be here with me for a long time", Terry Pegula told me after the Sabres 4-1 win over arch rival Atlanta.

Mr. Pegula LOVES 7-11-14. He's just like you and me.

"To see Renee, Gilbert and Rico back together again is great. I sat in the back of the box and talked with them and watched this great game. I'm thrilled to have them here with me".

Robert has been estarnged from the Sabres for the past couple of years and its great to see him back home where he belongs.

Here's the pregame ceremony from my vantage point on press row.

I spoke with Tyler Myers, Pommer and Miller after the game. Their videos are coming soon.

Check back in a few....

Here's a beauty! Terry Pegula going one on one with Rayzor. Note Mr. Pegula's grip on his game puck. The players voted him "Game MVP", and as is the custom, the owner had to make a speech to the whole team before the media were allowed into the room.

'His speech was very emotional. He told us that he's no better than we are. We are all the same", Pommer said.

Ryan Miller has been playing like a Vezina since the beginning of the Caps game. Here, he gets props from his new owner.

Ryan Miller made 39 saves, several of the highlight reel variety en route to the 4-1 wins vs. Atlanta. The Sabres now trail eighth place Carolina by only three points. ATL now Trail Buffalo by two. The Sabres have games in hand on the Rangers, Canes, and Thrashers.

Mr. Miller, take a bow.

Sabres do not disappoint in front of Terry Pegula and his family. Nice four point win for Buffalo as they snap their three game home losing skid.
