Since the last time the Sabres played they Sens, Bryan Murray has gutted his squad. The M.O is simple: get younger and cheaper immediately. The Sens are clearing cap space so that they can become aggressive in the UFA market this Summer. They will re-build their roster with draft choices and by cultivating the youngsters that they have had in Bingo for the past couple of seasons.
Out with the old and in with the new. Gone vets are Mike Fisher, Chris Kelly, Jerko Ruutu, Brian Elliott, and Alex Kovalev. Cue "Dust In The Wind".
Grizzled vets Chris Phillips, Chris Neil and Nick Foligno will likely be sent out at the deadline. Buffalo are interested in acquiring Foligno. Alfredsson and Spezza are loyal soldiers and will stay put in Ottawa.
In are Bobby Butler, , Roman Wick, Erik Condra, Colin Greening, Francis Lessard, David Hale, and Cory Locke. Marek Svatos, claimed off waivers this week, will skate for the Sens tonight.

This is a "trap game" if I ever saw one. Bad team, ravaged by losing and rebuilding in progress. Nothing to play for other than to mess up their opponents' chances to make the Playoffs.
