Mike Murphy conducted the hearing with Chara earlier today. Chara will not be suspended or fined for the wreckless, careless, disrepectful act that he foisted upon Max Pacioretty of the Habs on Tuesday night.
Murphy and the NHL have spoken. Its ok to turnbuckle opponents on the glass stanchions.
"I could not find any evidence to suggest that, beyond this being a correct call for interference, that Chara targeted the head of his opponent, left his feet or delivered the check in any other manner that could be deemed to be dangerous".
Chara's "good guy" reputation was taken into consideration by the league, hence, no fine or suspension.
In a sign that the team's overall health is improving, the Sabres have sent Mark Mancari, Mark Parrish and Luke Adam back to Portland.
Thomas Vanek missed the Pittsburgh game with a case of the flu. He's expected to play Thursday night night Boston.
Mike Grier (groin) and Jochen Hecht (upper body) skated in Pittsbugh on Tuesday, however, they were left out of the games, as was Pat Kaleta (knee). 26, 25, and 55 all skated today are are ready to return.
Zdeno Chara's telephone hearing with the substitute NHL disciplinary czar, Mike Murphy, ended at 12:30EDT today. Colin Campbell could not participate due to his son being employed by the Boston Bruins. Wouldn't want a conflict of interest, would we? The Bruins captain skated with his team in Boston this afternoon.
Its not known yet if Chara will be suspended for his negligence and blatant disrespect for Max Pacioretty on this play at the end of the game on Tuesday night.
I expect the NHL to slap Chara with a 1-2 games suspension for his thoughtless act of violence, that left Pacioretty with a fractured vertebrae and a severe concussion. Its n
ot known right now how longf Pacioretty will miss as he recovers from his serious injuries. could be a four weeks, could be eight weeks, could be never.
The Habs and Bruins have been spilling tiger blood all over one another this season. The two teams piled up 186 penalty minutes the last time these two teams met before Tuesday night.
Chara had a beef with Pacioretty back on January 8 in Montreal. Take a look and decide for yourself if Chara was looking to settle a score with the Habs player.
I'd love to see the NHL suspend Chara for 4-6 games. I don't see it happening though. I think they will give him one or two games. Buffalo fans should want him suspended for Thursday night's game in Boston.
