The Winnipeg Jets announced on Sunday that they have trimmed their roster by three players.

The club has released Janne Pesonen who was with the team on a professional tryout, and assigned defenceman Paul Postma and forward Jason Gregoire to the St. John's Ice Caps of the American Hockey League.

Postma led all Jets defencemen in scoring during the pre-season, registering two goals and three assists in four games. The 22-year old played in his first career NHL game with the Atlanta Thrashers last season. In 69 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves, Postma had 12 goals and 33 assists for 45 points in 69 games.

Gregoire appeared in three games with the Jets, picking up an assist. Last season, the Winnipeg native played in 35 games for the University of North Dakota, collecting 25 goals and 43 points in 35 games.

Following Sunday's cuts, 29 players remain on the Jets' roster. That group consists of 18 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders.
