When you have only won 13 games out of 51, your going to find ways to lose but Wednesday night's 3-2 defeat by the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Los Angeles Kings raised more than a few eye brows. In the fleeting last few seconds Drew Doughty scored with 0.5 seconds left in the contest. What raised those eye brows though was what looked to be the clock stopping at 1.8 seconds for more than enough time that wouldn't have given Doughty the opportunity to score the game winner.

“I have nothing official, any official report but watching the replay and talking with our producer who runs our show the clock stopped at 1.8 seconds,” Blue Jackets interim head coach stated. “It stopped for 1.5 seconds and they scored with point five (seconds). So, something happened and it's really disappointing because I thought our guys battled and worked hard.”

The Kings struck first in the opening period when Justin Williams continued his hot streak by whistling a shot past Curtis Sanford over his left shoulder, off the crossbar and into the net 8:40 into the game.

The Blue Jackets are now 3-23-2 when they allow the opponent to score first.

Don't miss 'Fire The Cannon' tonight at 7pm when we will have the Greater Columbus Sports Commission's executive director, Linda Logan, on who was on of the direct parties that helped bring the 2013 NHL All-Star game to Columbus.

Derek Dorsett snapped a five game goalless streak when he received a beautiful backwards between the legs pass from Derick Brassard in tight against Jonathan Quick to knot the score at one just 1:09 into the second period.

With 5:28 left in the middle stanza, the Kings regained the lead after R.J. Umberger gave up a poor turn-over at the Kings blue line where Dustin Penner gathered it in and knew what to do with it. Penner wristed a shot on the glove side of Sanford to give Los Angeles the 2-1 lead.

Early in the third period, Colton Gillies became the 28th different player on the Blue Jackets to score a goal, which is the most in the NHL, after John Moore blasted a shot from the point that rebounded off of Quick to Antoine Vermette on the right side. Vermette was quick with the stick and immediately put it on the tape of Gillies that all 24 square feet to look at and put in the puck at the 4:52 mark of the final period. The 28 different players to score a goal also ties a franchise record as well.

The Blue Jackets next game is Friday against the Anaheim Ducks at 10pm local time.
