Isles @ Montreal: Who will have the Luck o' the Irish? 3-2 Isles |
|
|
|
10 pm: In an unexpected turn of events, it is Josh Bailey that wins it for the Isles in the shoot out. Who would have thought.
9:50 pm: Dylan Reese and Andy MacDonald have had excellent games tonight. Add some good moves by Mark Eaton and this game is going to the shoot out.
9:46 pm: Isles kill off the power play and Al Montoya makes some good saves including one that gave him a headache as his helmet was whacked at enough to make it fly off leaving him vulnerable in his crease.
9:36 pm: Good to see Frans Nielsen back on the ice to take a face off after being knocked down in front of his bench and hitting his face on the boards.
Montreal fans chanting PK, PK. Play has gone back and forth in a fast pace. You wouldn't know these two teams are in the basement.
With only 1:17 left, Streit ends up on the box due to a puck over the glass. Seriously, the Isles have the worst luck.
Scott Allen takes time with his penalty killer, including Matt Matt Martin.
PK Subban skates like the damn wind.
With 4.8 seconds remaining, Howie was sure the game was going to overtime. Now, doesn't that make sense with these two teams? The balance of Streits penalty will have to be played 4 on 3 in OT.
9:11 pm: Oh for petes sake Louis LeBlanc ties it at two being left all alone in the slot.
Nothing is easy for this Isles team.
8:46 pm: Josh Bailey is accused of a horrendous turnover that lead to a breakaway. Al Montoya travelled 15 feet out of his net to stop the puck and ended up falling down and leaving his net waide open. If not for MacDonald and Streit, it would be tied at two.
Al: DON'T LEAVE THE NET.
8:41 pm: Travis Hamonic batted the puck into the air and Frans Nielsen watched it all the way, gloved it down, settled it down and went to the net. Josh Bailey was at the paint waiting for a pass but Frans said, "Nah. I got this one."
Isles 2 Habs 1. 3:05 left of the second.
8:15 pm: The Islanders were scored on early in teh first period and it looked like Al Montoya had been on the shelf just a little too long. Second period and a power play later, March Streit evens things up.
Anyone's game with Islanders winning the loose puck battles.
Earlier: Well, well, well. Jack Capuano finally decided to blow the dust off of Al Montoya. He starts tonight in Montreal.
Steve Staois and Jay Pandolfo (the Isles Masterdon Trophy nominee) are both scratched tonight.
Jack told Newsday's fill-in reporter that he may be shifting Nino around a little, but that there won't be TOO many line changes. Bring him up to second Jack and see what happens.
Much has been said about Nino's development, but you know what -- every player develops differently. I didn't think there would ever be a time John Tavares would stop getting knocked on his butt. Now look at him. It just takes time.
Now, while Capuano said he'd be moving Nino around, the word from Isles camp just came over Twitter with the following lines:
Moulson - Tavares - Okposo
Bailey - Nielsen - Parenteau
Grabner - Cizikas - Ullstrom
Niederreiter - Reasoner - Martin.
Sigh. Oh well. The thought was nice while it lasted.
