9:28 pm: Well, that was the biggest time suck of my week. sigh.
I am not sure what had Kyle Okposo thrown out with a misconduct, or what caused John Tavares to tell the officials what he REALLY thought of them, but it didn't matter in the last minute of the game. Kovalchuk found an empty net and the Isles lost.
Jack is so poised with Peter, even after such a tragic loss.
"The urgency level was better tonight. I thought we played well defensively, second period big power play goal for them. The chances either team generated a whole lot. We had more chances to shoot the puck. " They just didn't.
Matt Donovan didn't look out of place and Capuano was happy with his performance. That's always a good thing.
8:52 pm: Devils leading on a power play goal. Isles have not had a power play in 40 minutes. Grabner has had chances that he hasn't been able to capitalize on.
Matt Donovan playhing his first game has his parents in attendance in New Jersey. It's so cute to hear parents of young hockey players. To us, they are minor celebrities. To them, they are just their kids playing a big game.
4 pm: The NY Islanders play their final game of the season at The Prudential Center tonight with Al Montoya in net facing Hedberg.
The game will be aired on MSG+2 so be prepared to watch it through klenex.
The New York Islanders announced today that forward Brock Nelson has agreed to terms on an Entry Level Contract (ECL).
Nelson, 20, led the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux in points (47) and goals (28) in 42 games as a sophomore. The Warroad, MN, native ranked third in the nation in goals and tied for 12th in points.
Brock will be playing out the final games of the Sound Tigers season. (Last of which is April 15th in Bridgeport.)
Toss in Matt Donovan, the only NHL player born and raised in Oklahoma, and it's kids day for the Islanders.
Team store 30% off sale extends through Thursday and if anyone is at the game on Thursday and would like to meet up for the final home game of the season -- I'll be down at Doolan's around 6 pm.
