Green is a no-brainer.
Picture the scenario. JFJ is working the waiver wire, the blue and white Maple Leaf logo is staring him in the face, when the moment of realization hits.
Eureka!
Hm. Leafs. Bastardized plural version of the word leaves. Leafs are blue and white. No, White separated his shoulder and is out for three weeks. Not much snow in the GTA this winter, it's still pretty green. Wait a minute ... Leaves are Green! Coincidence?
He spasms hovering over the button, hits it, and next thing you know, #39 returns to the Blue and White Leafs tonight in Buffalo.
With so much green tied up in the defense corp, the Leafs were missing it up front. Had to spread the Green around to balance things out.
Travis Green. Plucked off the waiver wire as a role playing, penalty-killing, face off winning machine. (the rhyming was unintentional, it just works)
Some of the Marlies making their NHL debuts. Aren't they all a little Green? Kris Newbury is green. John Pohl has gotten his feet wet, but he's still pretty green. In fact, with so many youngsters up front, Green fits right in. The Green brigade.
The commentators are going to the most upset.
"Sundin skating down the wing, Leafs are on a line change, Steen follows up, they have Green open on the other side. Sundin, to Steen, to Green back to Sundin, off to Steen, back to Green, to Sundin, he shoots, Miller-een, uh, Miller, makes the save!"
Will the Leafs will be wearing the green St. Pats jerseys tonight?
