Avs-Preds: Holy *$%@

I can't curse on here but... what the %&$! just happened?

Avs-Predators was supposed to be a low-scoring game of the Avs who couldn't score against the Preds who played such solid defense. If this were paper, it'd be crinkled up and thrown away, along with the official's video.

For a matinee matchup, the Avs beat the Predators 6-5 in a game that had more bounces than a game of polinko.

There was a goal that came off the boards, off Nashville goaltender Chris Mason's pad and in. There was a goal scored off Jan Hejda's skate and in. There was a goal that was scored one of the most blow offsides calls in the history of offside.

For 60 minutes, the rules didn't apply. Logic, physics, rulebook, none of them applied. The game was crazier than Jack Nicholson. Goals were scored faster than a LeBron advertisement agreement.

Tyson Barrie one-timed a pass from Matt Duchene for his first NHL goal, the first by an Avs defenseman this year. Coach Joe Sacco is hoping for more offense from the blueline from Barrie and newly-called-up Elliott. With five points in three games, Barrie is finally starting to deliver.

Speaking of delivering, Duchene delivered a goal despite receiving the puck several feet offsides. The game seemed to freeze as all of the players seemed to wonder if play was still going on. Refyousuck.com will love it, cause it is their namesake but the Predator fans: sorry, we've been there, it sucks. Maybe in honor of President's Day, Barack Obama pardoned Duchene.

Duchene is delivering on his promise to earn the big contract. In the Avs-O'Reilly saga, the big sticking point has been Duchene's bridge contract. Well, if Duchene is trying to prove he's worth a pay raise, his second consecutive three point night is paving the way.

He is driving the Avs' suddenly expolosive offense. Now if only they could get their defense to move their feet and stop looking like a bouy with sharks circling it like they have for the past two games.

Despite owning three goal lead lead for the second consecutive game, the Avs still had to hold on during a frantic last minute when the game was 6-5, avoiding blowing their fourth straight lead in a row. Offense is doing fine. Now if only they could figure out how to do the whole defense thing.

Three Stars

1. Matt Duchene- He's playing so well the rules don't apply
2. Shea Weber- goal, assist. Tried really hard to get it tied
3. Aaron Palushaj- the waiver pickup is having a great impact

Facepalm of the Game

Duchene's offsides play. Seriously should not have counted but good on him to make the most of an opportunity. Ref fail all the way.

Bang Bang play of the Game

Not everyone can rub Weber off a puck and dish it out for a goal. Duchene did that.
