Nabokov in net and Visnovsky on the couch. This game will be interesting in Buffalo with a team that is out of the playoffs.

Let's get the party started. I'm sure you've already been chatting about it. I'm just late to the party.

Bets? Sabres or Isles? Which will it be

I will agree with Butchie that Casey Cizikas is the biggest surprise of the season. I didn't expect him to be such a difference maker either, but he certainly has been. His entire line makes a difference every game. He's a much better player than I ever expected him to be.

Great quote from Goring. "Horses can still run, we just run a little slower." A wonderful charity event that is a good time for those involved.

So it may be Ryan Miller's last game as a Sabre? Interesting. I'd take him.

I don't like the off-sides calls. I may be wrong, but when I hear them it signals they weren't paying attention to positioning. And yes, I know, I've never played the game.

Isles get the first power play of the game as Webber is called for interference. Isles had only one power play opportunity last night and couldn't capitalize on it. They may not get a second change tonight either.

And again... off sides.

Only one shot on the power play and Moulson did have a good opportunity -- and missed the puck.

Okay, so now a Sabres power play opportunity as Strait sits in the box. Now, this would be a good time for a Grabner short handed goal.

Nope.

While, I think Matt Moulson has made some very smart moves, Mark Streit was not happy with the first period.

Second period is a little chippy to start. The Sabres get on the board when Flynn scored from the faceoff circle. But then there are numerous penalties which give the Isles a 4 on 3 advantage and then a 5 on 3 advantage for almost a full minute.

Somehow the Isles never had a good enough chance to get the puck in the net. This does not bode well for a playoff bound team.

Scott and Carkner tangle in close due to Carkner throwing a Gordie Howe elbow. He gets four minutes. Isles on the PK again. This.is.not.good.

Michael Grabner would be the greatest player to live if he could just get the puck in the net. Miller witht he save and the Isles will go to the dressing room still down 1 - 0.

"The turnovers are getting away from us." Strait.

"You can expect more from us this period." Let's hope so.

Just when Kevin from Lighthousehockey and Joe from KnightofCups and I are talking about turning off the game, Andy MacDonald shoots the puck down the ice and Keith Aucoin goes chasing after it. Ryan Miller was six feet out of his crease, misplayed the puck and looked like he caught a rut. Aucoin takes the angle and bangs in the puck into an empty net.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

With the second point of the game on his stick...John Tavares fanned on his shot. This will head to overtime.

Aucoin is hooked and the Isles go on a power play. However, it doesn't look like one.

John Tavares gets a shot on Miller, who makes the save. Then JT shoots wide on his next chance.

Full strength once again. The extra point will be awarded by the shoot out.

Vanek scores easily on Nabokov. Nielsen is denied. Boyes denied. Tavares denied

Sabres win.

That's a wrap.
