Let the rumors continue to swirl....

Darcy Regier said on Friday night that he had one opportunity to move out of the 8th overall slot to the top 5. Carolina are looking for a top 4, all-around D.

Is Tyler Myers a trade option?

I see the Avs grabbing MacKinnon; the Cats picking Drouin, Tampa selecting Jones, Nashville picking Barkov. At the 5 hole, I see Buffalo picking Valery Nichuskin, the Russian gun ship.

I spoke with Mikhail Grigorenko about Nichuskin immediately after the WJCs when Grigo reported to Buffalo. Grigo loves Nichishkin's power game and his fleet feet. The two wingers played together for Russia at the WJCs in UFa, Russia in January.

Nichuskin is a 6'4 235 pound skilled string man. He opens up big ice for his line mates.

Question is: Will Regier trade Myers for the 5th overall pick so that he can select the best power forward in this draft?

Dallas GM Jim Nill is said to be actively pursuing a partner in the top 10. Nill and his scouts are targeting centers Monahan and Lindholm. I'm hearing that the Canes are considering trading power forward Louii Eriksson. Jamie Benn is said to be off limits to all would be suitors.

I don't expect the Avs, Panthers, Bolts or Preds to trade out of their 1-4 slots. The 5th place Canes are in desperate need of D. Calgary need forwards, D, and a goalie. Edmonton need a D. Buffalo are looking to add a top 6 scoring forward.

Will Nill and Regier work a deal?

Regier spoke with Brian Duff this morning. Thanks sabres.com
