After being speechless upon hearing of Kovy's retirement (heard it from a fellow blogger during our fantasy hockey draft - I thought he was full of it!) I took a page from Uncle Lou... (And FUN)

So how do you replace Kovy? YOU DON'T! And move on.
No with plenty of cap room there is options for Uncle Lou, just a few weeks late.
The biggest question I have is, why didn't Kovy announce his retirement prior to free agency??
My suggestion after the debacle was, sign Damien Brunner and trade for Hemsky (send Oilers a D and Tedenby or Josefson).
Talks have been heating up that Brunner will soon sign in Jersey.
A Swiss tweet suggested tomorrow being the day and a 2 year, 3mil deal. Word was Brunner was asking north of 3.5 mil. If Brunner is the real deal he could command a ton more in a few years.
I have heard nothing on Hemsky but I have heard in the last four hours talk of Mason Raymond. This can be very interesting?
Raymond is speedy and has had scoring success but never was able to regularly crack top 6 in Vancouver. They also brought in David Booth and bumped Raymond down.
Now this I really like and he is young!
There are three names that I am very surprised have not signed on anywhere: Brunner, Raymond and Grabovski.
Maybe Uncle Lou has been in constant communication knowing Kovy was going to bail.
Phaneuf to Jersey would be cool, but I just don't see it happening.
This can be very interesting. Stay tuned tomorrow (Uncle Lou is an old school businessman, likes to do business on weekdays!)
