Thurs, 1:39 pm: While having lunch, I came across two excellent articles on the web. The first is an interview with Newsday's Art Staple by Eyes on Isles, Andy Graziano. Art is interviewed a lot on radio and has done his share of MSG on air stints. But this one is really detailed and gives you the true sense of how he feels about the organization.

Give it a go: http://eyesonisles.com/2013/08/01/new-york-islanders-arthur-staple-chat/

My only dispute with Artie is the idea that they drafted Nino too high. Had he heard what his junior coach had said about him, as well as his numbers, Nino wasn't drafted too high. He just expected too much his first season when he wasn't mature enough. Sad but true, he'll do fine.

Then there is this article by Ty Anderson on Ryan Pulock for NY Hockey Journal. http://www.nyhockeyjournal.com/news/2013/08/01_from_nyhj_the_best_defense.php Also excellent while venturing into the additional of Cal Clutterbuck.

While the Barclay's Center isn't really 'that' far from Uniondale, the NY Islanders newest affiliated arena is. The Stockton Arena is 2,900 miles away and is the home of the Isles newest ECHL affiliate, the Stockton Thunder. The arena is incredible for an ECHL team and is only eight years old. The Thunder's first game was there was December 10, 2005 in front of a sold out crowd of 10,117.

A Comcast property, it boasts a 24 luxury suites, approximately 400 club seats, a Members Club lounge, video scoreboard, team locker rooms and offices.

Isn't this even larger than the Webster Bank Arena for the Sound Tigers? Another connection to the Islanders was presented by Eric Hornick; the
Stockton Thunder is coached by ex-Isles Rich Kromm.

The Isles past ECHL affiliations didn't fair well, but perhaps this will do better.

Sideboards: Want to meet the newest relocated Islander? You can meet Cal Clutterbuck on Tuesday, August 6th at the Isles team store. You'll even get a discount on a new Clutterbuck tee or jersey.

I think we should come out in force to show this guy how passionate Long Island fans actually are. What do you think?

And if you cared -- Ziggy Pallfy has retired from hockey. Awwwweee... Your old Pallfy jersey just increased in value -- by about $3.00.

Scott Gomez has found a new home for the next season, he'll be a Florida Panther. I guess it could be worse
