Tre Kronor Line Combos and Power Play Units Take Shape |

Much of Tre Kronor's final practice session at Bolshoy Ice Dome before its Olympic opener tomorrow against the Czech Republic was devoted to special teams. The Swedes have split their firepower between the first and second power play units, rather than simply trying to load up the first unit with their top playmaking and finishing weapons.
At Tuesday's practice, the first unit consisted of Henrik Zettberg centering a unit with Gabriel Landeskog, Alexander Steen, Daniel Alfredsson and Erik Karlsson. The second unit had Nicklas Bäckström centering Daniel Sedin and Loui Eriksson up front with Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Alexander Edler on the points (or Alfredsson and Karlsson).
In speaking to the Swedish media after practice, Alfredsson played up the value of having two righthanded shooters available as the trigger men up high in the zone. The Detroit Red Wings forward and longtime Ottawa Senators captain said that the top power play will be more shooting-oriented than some past Swedish nation teams. Tre Kronor will try to set up one-timer opportunities when possible in their puck rotations and the personnel setup will give Zetterberg in particular a variety of options in the offensive zone.
During five-on-five play, the expected lineup for tomorrow's game against the Czechs is as follows:
Loui Eriksson - Nicklas Bäckström - Daniel Sedin
Alexander Steen - Henrik Zetterberg - Gabriel Landeskog
Daniel Alfredsson - Patrik Berglund - Gustav Nyquist
Jimmie Ericsson - Marcus Krüger - Carl Hagelin
Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Erik Karlsson
Niklas Kronwall - Jonathan Ericsson
Niklas Hjalmarsson - Johnny Oduya
Alexander Edler - Henrik Tallinder
Henrik Lundqvist
