Break out the Vix Vapo-Rub and smear a dollup under your nostrils to rid your olfactory system of the stench from last night's debacle versus Minnesota.

That was 60 minutes of your life that you will never be able to get back.

Block it out.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt !

The New Jersey Devils want first place so bad that they can taste it.

They are rested, having had Friday night off in Buffalo.

The Devs defeated the Penguins, 4-3 in the Shootout, Thursday night.

Brodeur made 21 saves to reach the 40-win mark for the sixth time in his career.

"Every time you win 40 games or get to these certain plateaus, they're pretty special," Brodeur said. "There's not many guys that are able to say that."

Patrick Roy will have to move aside to make way for Martin Brodeur.

Brodeur is the best big game, big money goalie that this observer has ever observed.

His poise and prowess in the NJ net is age and timeless.

Guys like Daneyko, Stevens, Driver, come and go on the NJ blueline.

Somehow, that does not phase Brodeur one bit.

Like Joe Sakic, Shanny, and Stevie Y, Barty is getting better with age.

Drew Stafford has close friend in the NJ room.

He knows that when the houselights go down tonight, and the anthems are sung, the game is on and the friendships go on hold until the end of the game.

"We always get up for these games. They're big games, four-point games," said New Jersey center Travis Zajac.

" Zajac and Parise are my guys, but I've got to take care of business against them. Bragging rights for the off season. They have such a disciplined team, and we have to be ready for them.

Lets review:

The Sabres have dropped back to back jacks to two Trapping opponenets from the Western Conference.

They will get a steady diet of said same tonight.

The Devs play a hybrid 1-4.

They also employ a solid 1-2-2.

They foirecheck with an aggressive centreman and they seal off the walls by dropping four men back.

Lets see if the third time will be the charm for Buffalo.

Against Colorado and Minny, the Sabres were woefully inept at getting pucks deep, behind the D, and forechecking the Hell out of the opposing D.

The Sabres were relegated to quicksand, and nothing good happens when their feet stop moving.

Lets see if the frustration overcomes them tonight.

Tonight is a Game 7 approach for Buffalo. The leaders need to lead tonight. They've left 4 point son the table in the past two games, and they need to win tonight to give themselves five degrees of seperation from The Devils.

They need to play with deperation and cretae chance s off heard work and NJ mistakes.
