Blues Set Franchise Record With Win In Buffalo |

The St. Louis Blues have set a new franchise record with tonight's 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres. The Blues have now recorded a point in 13 straight games, winning seven straight games.
Jake Allen stopped all 23 shots he faced tonight, recording his fourth career NHL shutout, and his third of the season. He improves his record to 15-5-2 on the season. He made some key stops in tonight's game, including a breakaway save on Brian Flynn, a breakaway save on Chris Stewart, and a beautiful two-pad stack stop on Zemgus Girgensons.
Meanwhile, Dmitrij Jaskin, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Jaden Schwartz (ENG) scored for the Blues.
The player of the game goes to Jake Allen, but you have to give credit to the rookie, Ty Rattie.
Rattie had a heck of a game. He was moving his feet, battling for pucks, put two shots on goal (missed the net a few times). He notched an assist on the Jaskin goal, which gave him his first point in the NHL. Both of his shots were really solid scoring chances. He threw a back-handed shot on goal, which Enroth had to be alert to, and his best chance was a rock from the top of the face-off dot. Jhonas Enroth had to look behind him to make sure the puck didn't squeak through him.
Why the big difference from his first few games this season? Patrik Berglund. The Blues iced the third line of Jaskin-Berglund-Rattie, which is a monumental improvement over Jaskin-Lindstrom-Rattie. Having a NHL caliber player centering your line will help you more than having an AHL caliber winger, centering your line.
The Blues were sloppy at times tonight, and Jake Allen bailed them out. Two straight games in which the goalie has been solid enough until the offense could come. Also for the second straight game, the Blues goalies have registered an assist on the last goal of the game. First it was Elliott on the overtime winner, and Allen tonight with an assist on Schwartz's empty netter.

Joakim Lindstrom is not an NHL caliber player.... Wait, that isn't a stat, that's just a fact. I think everyone is starting to realize that. Says a lot that the 31 year old forward is scratched for two rookies. Hitchcock is starting to figure it out.
