Dano, Bobrovsky Lead Blue Jackets Past Canucks

Playing against a current playoff team in the 2nd of a back-to-back, Columbus certainly didn't get the start they wanted.

The Blue Jackets came out flat turning the puck over with regularity and allowing 20 shots on goal in the 1st period, but Sergei Bobrovsky kept a zero on the board and allowed the Jackets time to get their feet underneath them.

Bobrovsky allowed a couple goals in the 2nd he'd probably want back, but by that point the Jackets had found their game and were able to overcome the 2-0 deficit against Vancouver by scoring six unanswered.

Some thoughts:

1) Like many Blue Jackets, it hasn't been a banner year for Sergei Bobrovsky. He was certainly on his game last night, though, as he stopped 38-40 and made several Grade A saves against a desperate Vancouver Canucks team. He's now up to a respectable .914SV%, which isn't bad when you factor in he's dealt with some injury problems, and throughout most of his starts Columbus was missing 5-7 regulars.

2) Marko Dano is quickly establishing himself as a legitimate top-6 forward in the NHL. After scoring two goals and recording a beautiful assist on Scott Hartnell's goal, Dano has registered seven points in his last five games. This while tallying 15 shots on goal in that span, and driving possession with regularity. Dano played a career-high 17:59 last night, and is really starting to gain the confidence of Todd Richards and the coaching staff.

3) Speaking of driving possession, Alex Wennberg and Dano have been doing such on a nightly basis. They were at it once again against Vancouver, as they finished 1st and 2nd on the team in even-strength shot attempt for percentage despite limited offensive zone starts.

They're getting better every game, which is a scary thought for the rest of the league.

4) The Blue Jackets have quietly won five of their last six games, and they're now just three games under .500. Given all they've dealt with this season, it'd be a pretty impressive feat if they could reach that mark.
