BREAKING: ISLES FIRE CAPUANO AND ENTIRE STAFF |
|

|
Just when you think the circus has left town this news breaks. Honestly when the history of this team is finally written there will be a chapter dedicated to this day. In a shocking turn of events, the Islanders have fired Jack Capuano and assistant coaches Doug Weight and Greg Cronin. Speaking to a source in the organization who did not want to provide their name, “this was a long time coming, the players simply refused to execute the game plan and it was apparent that there was a clear disconnect between Head Coach and Captain.”
Now here is where the circus comes stumbling back into town. The Islanders will announce later today that former Coach, GM, VP and village idiot, Mike Milbury will replace Capuano. But wait there’s more! Joining him on the bench as assistants will be Eric Cairns and Rick
Dipietro. I spoke with Dipietro’s radio partner Alan Hahn who had this to say about Rick’s new job. “This is a chance of a lifetime for Dipi and he had to jump at it. I know we have had a good thing going with this show, but at the end of the day Rick’ destiny was to return to the rink and coach the team that he truly loves.”
There will be a news conference scheduled for today at 5pm where Islanders owner Charles Wang, General Manage Garth Snow and new Head Coach Mike Milbury will all address the media. It is unclear if Cairns and Dipietro will be at the presser as well.
This is a very fluid story and I will stay on top of it. As it develops more I will update the site and I have already reached out to the Islanders and Capuano for a formal comment. They have not answered my request as of yet. As always for more on all things hockey please follow me on twitter at @DanDanNoodles78 and I want to wish everyone a very Happy April Fool’s Day!!!
