Not much going on with the Avalanche since the season ended, but they announced Friday they have signed Norwegian forward
Andreas Martinsen to a one-year, entry-level contract. He is from Baerum, Norway.
Martinsen, 24, had one assist in seven games for Norway in the IIHF World Championships. Norway lost five of its seven games in the tournament.
A physical forward, Martinsen is 6-feet-3 and 220 pounds. He had 18 goals, 23 assists and 99 penalty minutes in 50 regular-season games this season for Dusseldorfer in Deutsche Eishockey Liga, which is Germany's top professional league. He had one goal and four assists in 12 playoff games.
Martinsen has played in six consecutive world championships.

Canada defeated the Czech Republic 2-0 and Russia blanked the U.S. 4-0 Saturday to advance to the gold medal game.

The U.S. and Czech Republic will play for the bronze medal.
Canada has dominated play, outscoring teams 60-14 while winning all nine of its games in regulation. The Czechs are 5-1-1-2 (regulation wins, overtime wins, overtime losses, losses).
The Russians are 6-1-1-1 and have outscored teams 39-19. The Americans have gone 6-1-0-2 while outscoring teams 25-19.

Nathan MacKinnon three goals and five assists, and
Tyson Barrie one goal and four assists.
Zach Redmond didn't dress for the U.S. on Saturday. He has one assist in four games.
Jan Hejda has two assists in nine games for the Czechs.
Aside from Martinsen,
Jonas Holos had one goal and five assists in seven games for Norway. Holos was a sixth-round pick of the Avalanche in the 2008 NHL draft and played in Europe the past four seasons. He had six assists in 39 games with Colorado in 2010-11.
