First off—thanks for all your input on the Okanagan wineries yesterday.

The race was hot and sweaty but the delicious wines and snacks along the way made it all worthwhile.

Click here for the proper link for that BC Business article about the event. It was well-organized, good fun and an excellent promotional tool for the wineries of the Oliver-Osoyoos region.

Generals Victorious at Memorial Cup

Secondly—victory for Cole Cassels' Oshawa Generals in their first game of the Memorial Cup. Cassels had one assist and was a plus-2 as the Generals outshot the Rimouski Oceanic 37-22 on their way to a 4-3 win.

Oshawa plays again today—against Quebec, who's also 1-0 so far in the tournament. Once again, game time is 1:30 p.m. PT. You can catch the game on Sportsnet or the livestream at the Mermorial Cup website.

AHL Western Conference Final Begins

The Utica Comets will also get their next playoff series underway, hosting the Grand Rapids Griffins. Once again, Utica has home-ice advantage and Jacob Markstrom will be holding down the net. Game time is 4 p.m. ET.

Canucks News to Chew On

Finally today, a new piece from Thomas Drance at Sportsnet, musing on the Canucks' potential offseason moves:

For me, the most interesting idea floating here by Drance is the idea of bringing in holdout RFA Vladimir Sobotka, who chose to retreat to Russia last season rather than accepting his arbitration award with the St. Louis Blues.

Sobotka's next NHL contract will be worth $2.725 million when he returns according to this piece from NHL.com. I wonder if the Blues would consider dealing him now that there's bad blood between the two sides?

Drance also seems to think there's a good chance that Eddie Lack will be the goaltender who ends up being traded. The farther Markstrom goes in the AHL playoffs, the more likely that scenario becomes, I think.

I need to be back in Vancouver in time to liveblog the Rangers/Lightning game at 5:00 today, so we'll just have time to hit up a couple of local wineries before we get on the road. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
