The San Jose Sharks added some depth today, inking Dainius Zubrus to a two-way deal.

Just how useful Zubrus will be remains to be seen, but he does have a link to Peter DeBoer which likely led to the signing. Zubrus' stats over the last two seasons leave much to be desired, as he's recorded his worst statistical seasons since his rookie campaign.

There's nothing spectacular about Zubrus, but if he's here to replace a guy named Mike Brown then, by all means, welcome aboard Dainius!

Martin Jones has been killing it his last five games, going 5-0 and bumping his save percentage up to .929 on the year. That's just what the doctor ordered for the Sharks who were struggling to get points.

Jones has San Jose up near the top of the league as Logan Couture gets closer to returning.

I've praised Jones earlier in the year and crapped on him more recently, both were deserving. I'm still not completely sure which Martin Jones the San Jose Sharks have, but I'm hoping it's the good one.

I'm not sure we'll even know the true Martin Jones until he's finished the season but, for now, it's fun to enjoy his solid play while it's around.

If the Sharks can keep winning while Logan Couture is out then they'll have proven to be a team that can battle through adversity. It hasn't been entirely pretty while Couture's been on the shelf, but this latest road swing is evidence enough that this team can play hockey, and play it well.

Couture is only going to make this team significantly better and, more importantly, deeper up front.

Are the Sharks for real? You betcha, but so is the struggle.

Brent Burns is getting more comfortable on defence and he's going to have himself in the conversation for the Norris Trophy all season long if he continues to play the way he's been playing.

He's tied for 5th in points and 1st in goals among all NHL defenders, but that shouldn't shock Sharks fans.

In case you're wondering kids, here's what a Norris candidate looks like:
