Some notes on the Calgary Flames' big win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night:

1) The Flames weren't able to break away from the Jets until they scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes but they were undoubtedly the better team in this game.

From start to finish they were in control and that shows in the numbers as they out-attempted the Jets 68-49, out-shot them 33-20 and out-chanced them 31-27. Maybe the game wasn't as lopsided as the score suggests but the Flames certainly got the result they deserved.

2) Johnny Gaudreau continues to play hockey at an unbelievably high level. His line was the Flames' best in possession and he chipped in with a cool three goals on six shots. He had five scoring chances and a game-high 11(!!) shot attempts, too. When he's on few players are better and there's no doubt he's on right now as he has 16 points and a pair of hat tricks in 10 games this month. Gaudreau now sits 7th in league scoring with 37 points in 34 games.

3) I wrote in my preview that discipline has been and continues to be an issue for the Jets and that if the Flames moved their feet and didn't retaliate to the Jets' physicality they'd get their fair share of power plays. That was the case as the Flames had five PP opportunities and scored the game's first goal on the man advantage.

4) Another game, another quality start for Karri Ramo. He wasn't tested a ton but he made the saves he had to and T.J. Brodie was there to bail him out when necessary. Ramo has allowed two goals or less in four of his last six, one goal in three of six and owns a .934 save percentage in that span. He's quietly playing well.

5) Brodie was once again a difference maker on the back end. He led all players in ice logging 24:43 and he contributed a pair of assists (giving him 11 points in his last 11 games) while also making a great play preventing what would have been the game-tying goal in the 3rd period.
