SCOTTY IN TAMPA
I first reported this morning, and someone pointed out on the thread that Bowman lives in Tampa and goes to games there now and then. But I also reported the presence at last night’s Wings-Bolts tilt, of a second Hawk scout, who I was told was Don Lever—and that is significant as far as Hawk conversations with Tampa.
Apparently, the Hawks remain in the hunt on Jonathan Drouin, but so do 6-7 other teams, and there is a possibility of an expanded deal here, possibly involving Tampa winger J.T. Brown, and/or a third team.
TORONTO
The Hawks and Leafs have been talking, and I have heard from two independent sources that the talks did involve Bryan Bickell at one point. However, I was told this morning that “went nowhere.” I was also told Leo Komarov was not discussed.
BOEDKER
Arizona has taken a step back in terms of the playoff picture, but they continue to try to extend Boedker. As I have been told repeatedly, if there is a deal here for the Hawks, it will be closer to the trade deadline.
WINNIPEG
The Hawks are talking to Kevin Cheveldayoff. Not about Byfuglien or Ladd. But they have some interest in defenseman Ben Chiarot.
FINALLY
I was told Teuvo Teravainen is not being shopped “at this time.” And this contradicts what I heard from another source a few days back. I have asked for some clarity around the “at this time” part.
