Final Score: Panthers 3 – Blue Jackets 4

Game Summary

The Jackets clearly were not ready for a 3pm start. The started off very slowly recording just a single shot in the first period. As the game went on though the Jackets play picked up and they managed to get the game to overtime, where they came away with a 4-3 shootout win.

Joonas Korpisalo as he's done so many times this season, did well to keep the game close. He kept the team in the game when it looked like Florida was going to run away with it.

Jack Johnson left last game injured, and no one could really pinpoint happened. Whatever it was, it was serious enough for Johnson to be placed on the IR. Michael Paliotta was recalled and made his season debut. This was not his NHL debut as he played one game last season for the Blackhawks.

Paliotta was the leading defensive scorer with 21 points in 50 games. He tops among defencemen in shots, and second on the team behind Daniel Zaar. Paliotta’s Jackets debut did not go as planned. He didn’t play very much just 7:32, recorded two shots, and took two penalties. Hopefully this was just to get his feet wet in the Jackets system. No defencemen should be playing that few minutes.

Scott Hartnell had a very Scott Hartnell game. He scored the Jackets first goal. Hartnell displayed nice patience to wait out Roberto Luongo.

Not long after the goal Hartnell proceeded to take not one but two penalties. The first one was bad, a slashing penalty, that came with the Jackets on the power play. The second was a boarding penalty not the worst penalty but one that Hartnell takes a lot of due to his physical play style.

During the game word game out that Hartnell will be traded to Nashville when the game was over. Nothing is confirmed yet but it sounds like this is getting close. Ill have more analysis on the move if/when it is confirmed.

Seth Jones scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket. It was anything but pretty. He unloaded what looked like was going to be a rocket, but the just floated and knuckled its way into the net. Must feel good for Jones to get that monkey off his back. He's been getting plenty of shots and chances just couldn’t seem to score. Figures it would be a shot like that.

Brandon Saad just keeps on scoring. His 24th of season sets a new career high. That is his third goal in his last four games.
